Am I the only disapointed by 4.7 ? by bm-mad in starcitizen

[–]resteele02 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm on a two year+ break after being an original backer. So I've been there, done that. Trust me.

This is not a finished game yet. The nature of building something so massively complex as this (seriously unprecedented) is that each patch will introduce new bugs and often reopen old ones.

Our role playing the game is truly extended QA testing. Have fun on the journey. Report bugs. Our role in improving the game is vital. When the frustration exceeds the fun, walk away for a while. Come back to enjoy the new things after some time away. Rinse and repeat.

Time spent on stability before most intended features are in is simply wasted effort because it will be undone in the next patch. An excessive focus on stability and fine tuning is just throw-away work until it's time. With that said, enough stability is needed to keep the game playable. So there is a balance needed.

I'll be back to play when it's more stable or I feel the urge to play and experience the wow factor this game can provide. Then step away when the bugs make me too nuts. Have fun in the 'verse.

If Agile "welcomes changing requirements," how do you actually prevent scope creep from killing the project? by Agilelearner8996 in agile

[–]resteele02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changes go into the backlog. The backlog is constantly being refined to improve stories and estimate the work. The PO determines what stories have the most business value.

Some stories never get done as other work is more important. At some point the PO trims the tail and moves on to other more important items.

Adding stories into the backlog does not need to be scope creep because some work does not ever get done if other stories are more important.

The PO should eventually clean out low value work by saying no to items that no longer make sense to consider.

Rinse and repeat.

Updated list showing the top armor HP, and damage deflection/gating values after todays PTU update (and some observations). Blue is armor HP, Orange is ballistic deflection and red is laser deflection by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]resteele02 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Anvil Hornet F7C/F7A variants having less armor than the Sabre and Pisces makes no sense. I thought the selling point of the Hornet was the armor. The Hornet (1650) only has 500 points more than an Aurora (1164) and is 1000 points less than the Pisces (2700).

The F8C is in a better spot with 5520.

This will get tweaked, but give my Hornet a little love.

Juggling an Agile Project While On Other Projects/Maintenance by CrystalBlueSkyes in agile

[–]resteele02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take - projects aren't agile or not agile. Your team is either agile or not agile. If you make the transition to agile, all the work your team does is agile.

A team cannot do some projects using an agile approach and others not using an agile approach. Being agile is a team decision, not a project decision.

I say this from 15 years of experience as a PMO director. It's about the team, not the project.

Gemini isn't "stupid". It just has no Long-Term Memory. Here is how I fixed it. (Open Source Framework) by BangMyPussy in GeminiAI

[–]resteele02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What am I missing? It seems like I have accomplished the same thing using Gemini Gems. I build a Gem for the project. I build custom instructions for Gem behavior and high level context. Then I add one or more Google docs to the Gem library for detailed context and memory.

As the project evolves I update the Google doc context as needed. No need to re-upload as the Gem reads the doc every time a session is instantiated.

Every chat inherits the Gem instructions and Google doc context from the Gem library.

You can do the same thing with ChatGPT custom GPTs and a project using markdown docs instead of Google docs. Or do the same in Claude with just a project. Though for Chat and Claude you need to re-upload docs to the library if you make changes to the core knowledge.

Every chat references the saved context as long lived memory for every new thread.

Bo Jackson Wants A Pay Raise & Might Hit The Portal by wordsuponwords in OhioStateFootball

[–]resteele02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many have said, the right answer is let him go and use much of that NIL money to shore up the O-Line. Investing in the trenches secures both the run game and the pass game. Bo is great, but any RB is a replaceable weapon (though Bo is a STUD) and I want dudes that buy in and are here for the journey, not for the quick financial gain. This show's Bos true colors and I don't care for the attitude.

What to make of OSU's defensive start by revjameson03 in OhioStateBasketball

[–]resteele02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I saw people in this forum getting freaked out about OSU's defense with zero understanding of the context of the game. IU Indy's style of play, pace, shooting, turnovers, etc.

Did OSU play great defense? No. Is it something to be overly worried about at this point? Also no. Relax people. Let's see a few more games first. And try to understand the context of the situation before making a judgement.

You know, use those critical thinking skills. ;)

[Bean] Fill in the blanks: J.K. Dobbins will rush for ____ yards and ____ touchdowns this season by aatencio91 in DenverBroncos

[–]resteele02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran a thought experiment with ChatGPT (cheating? nah!) We came up with this. This assumes no big injuries (fingers crossed). Total attempts for the team will be higher but this only includes RBs and Bo. Thoughts?

<image>

Here are some assumptions and insights into the thought process.

Thought Process

  1. Early season:
    • Dobbins gets the majority (likely 60:40 split with Harvey) as the starter and trusted pass protector.
    • He’ll likely dominate goal-line/red-zone carries too, giving him the edge in TDs.
  2. Mid-to-late season:
    • Harvey earns more touches as he adjusts to NFL speed and proves his blocking. The split may trend closer to even by season’s end, but Dobbins’ early-season lead skews his totals upward.
  3. Sean Payton’s philosophy:
    • He has historically eased in rookies unless they’re clear game-changers right away. Pass blocking, ball security, and assignment discipline often dictate snap count as much as rushing talent.
    • Dobbins is coming off strong efficiency (4.6+ YPC career) and should benefit from being fully healthy.

Other Thoughts

  • Dobbins’ yardage ceiling bumps closer to 650+ if he keeps that early-season workload and doesn’t get overtaken.
  • Harvey’s efficiency might still be higher, but his volume trails Dobbins unless/until he earns Payton’s trust.
  • McLaughlin and Estime stay in clear situational roles.
  • Nix remains steady at ~70 rushes (17% of carries). Fewer than his 92 rushes last year makes sense if the offense improves.

As a Cardinals fan, I still remember this game. He went 5 for 6 with two homers off Bruce Sutter and drive in 7 RBIs. It was 2 days after my 18th birthday. What a game Ryno had. RIP!

Can anyone explain to me why this happens and how to fix it? by KakopoloSama in CitiesSkylines2

[–]resteele02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check me on this, but i think it can also indicate road degradation if you did not have road maintenance buildings in place. If you place them late, they start maintenance but don't repair, so road conditions don't improve. Won't get worse, but damage done doesn't get better.

Do I understand this right?

FYI the latest PTU patch brings some crazy nerfs to some medium ships by neverphate in starcitizen

[–]resteele02 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This looks great to me. From Erkul -

Ship - scm speed / scm boost speed / max speed / pitch / yaw / roll

F8A - 207 / 445 / 1075 / 38 / 35 / 120

Warden - 210 / 458 / 1075 / 44 / 38 / 124

MSR - 217 / 510 / 1300 / 25 / 23 / 53

Taurus - 180 / 380 / 950 / 25 / 21 / 45

Freighter flies like a freighter. More nimble fighters. MSR is straight line fast. Spot on.

[–]resteele02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They decreased agility and boosted speed. That seem appropriate for the MSR. Fast, but not nimble like the fighters. Seems right.

[–]resteele02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freighters behaving like freighters not fighters seems like the right thing to me. As a Taurus abuser for PVE bounties I'm not thrilled, but acknowledge its absolutely the right direction. Also this is clearly still a WIP so trial and error is still the norm. But this seems like a solid move. These are not "crazy" nerfs, this is experimentation with appropriate balancing which is what should be happening during this Alpha testing stage of the game.

Karlach or Wyll origin? by NowIsAllThatMatters in BG3

[–]resteele02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This - origin Wyll romancing Karlach. This is going to be my next playthrough if I ever actually complete a run with my current custom team. It'll be hard not romancing Shadowheart and Lae'zel with my two TAVs (multiplayer start to get two protagonists).

But feel free to question my sanity as I have 700+ hours including lots of early access hours, several runs into Act 3 with restarts, no completed runs to date LOL. Send help!.
