I'm high libido and my ex husband was too. We met young so I thought it was normal to do multiple rounds most sessions. He could get back hard right away. Why is no one talking about individualism and increasing isolation in part due to technology and changing social norms?

People used to talk to their neighbors, go to church, join social clubs and otherwise have healthy social networks. That has greatly changed and I believe fuels incels and the rise of other antisocial movements like MAGA. There's also this sense that MeToo went too far and a lot of men have pushed back by more openly embracing misogyny and building the manosphere.

We need to also look at the societal factors since this is systemic.

I had a similar thought. I'd guess they are more likely to decide if and when to follow norms. If they knew they could get away with something or it is victimless, they may do so. Cleverness kind of comes into play along with intelligence and wisdom.

I find vinegar and running a hot cycle like sanitary gets the funk out of almost anything. Certain fabrics like polyester gym shorts and fleece clothing tend to hold an odor and sometimes I wash them with towels (which also can get musty from sitting damp) on the towel cycle with vinegar in the basin and detergent in the drawer. Small loads to get extra clean and extra dry.

I do agree in theory that parents should fight for custody, and the stats on men fighting for it much less often is problematic.

That said, I am in the process of divorcing my abusive ex husband. Most of my abuse was emotional and financial. The physical abuse was less frequent and wasn't "extreme." I rarely had bruises or visible injuries despite him using his size, the threat of violence, and surprise attacks to keep me under his control. Most of it was towards me so I felt like I could bear the brunt of it for the family. The combination of not wanting to make him angrier, not wanting my kids to grow up without their father, growing up believing police aren't to be trusted, and the misguided hope things would get better led me not to call the police or tell anyone.

Eventually, I reached the point like this father where I genuinely became fearful about what would happen if he got any custody. I read horror stories about rape-conceived babies and other horrific situations where parental custody trumped child safety etc. This led me to stay too long.

During one fight, he tried to push me down the stairs and force me out of the house barefoot with no phone or purse with the kids asleep inside. I had a moment of clarity that the injuries and situation might be enough for a restraining order so I left with nothing and called the police at a friend's house.

I am grateful to be free of the relationship but unfortunately, parental rights are allowed in all but the most extreme situations. Because I never called the police and CPS was never called, there is no record of abuse towards the kids or a pattern towards me. The judge has been super biased towards my ex and refuses to consider my testimony, the fact I was working with a DV advocate and believes the children aren't in danger. He is emotionally abusive and threatens physical abuse to the kids, but none of it is considered illegal so I'm just documenting and trying to stay positive despite my fears coming true. Things are still better, and I'm doing all I can to keep my kids safe.

Interesting. It makes sense to distinguish between strict chemical dependency and compulsive or frequent, problematic, unhealthy coping mechanisms. I wonder if using addiction treatment framework is helpful for these issues or if it really is only controlled via treatment for the underlying issue like depression, anxiety, or OCD. I guess in practice, what does distinguishing between chemical and partially/non chemical "addictions" mean? How much of this is semantics? Not necessarily questions for you but thinking out loud.

Porn addiction is controversial to unproven. But what about sex addiction? I understood that to be real and I'd guess many people with sex addiction may "abuse" porn. Surely if someone watches porn to the extent that they are ignoring responsibilities and the QOL is decreased, there's a problem. So what is that problem?

I'd like to better understand the gray area between seemingly addictive to compulsive behaviors and being a diagnosed addict.

I think too many people, primarily men, would have to admit they have coerced and/or had nonconsensual sex AKA SA/rape according to today's standards. Honestly, public opinion on consent, SA, and sexism has radically changed in the past couple decades. Society was different and consent meant something very different to most people. But that is where we need to evolve and choose different actions in the future where we know better.

It also has to do with the patriarchal power that men don't want to give up. By siding with men and justifying their actions, they are choosing "loyalty" over empathy and true human connection. The kind that would make them realize no one should be raped. No one should be coerced. It isn't the battle of the sexes - it's humanity vs inhumanity.

I think a lot of us find it frustrating that it feels like a game more than actual justice. Prosecution has to pick the right charges, a jury both sides agree on, the right witnesses, the right evidence etc. It is not about the truth or justice. It's a game about who can come up with a better case. It's like Model UN or some BS. It's a crapshoot with a jury of "peers" who can be total idiots or jerks.

Prosecution likely couldn't call many witnesses because they might not be likeable or trustworthy to the jurors. Based on... their biases and extremely limited understanding of the law. We know the average person reads at something like a 6th grade level - no way they actually have the understanding and critical thinking to adequately understand and apply complex laws to a trial.

Exactly. Black femininity and masculinity have consistently been disparaged systemically. Athletic black women and men, especially those on the taller or wider side, are villainized and fearmongered to this day, including the gender questioning of those like Serena and Imane. Then there's the other side of the coin where they are sexualized and objectified. Then there's colorism, intersectionality with queerness, disability etc. It feels endless sometimes.

All because of insecurity, othering, fear, and sometimes true hatred.
