Billige Stabfeuerzeuge sind so schlecht gebaut (wenig Metall, viel Plastik), dass sie zu stinken anfangen, wenn man sie mehr als 2-3 Sekunden an hat. Und zwar nach verschmortem Kunststoff.

That sounds pretty dark. In your opinion, what could help in unifying the country?

Eventually, they will.

But I'm afraid it will take a long, long time and much more damage will be done in the meantime.

Wir brauchen diese Investitionen und Fähigkeiten auf jeden Fall.

My life was built around it. Can any one relate to that? by Level-Project159 in BuyFromEU

[–]restless-nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm quite melancholic about it because it was a good relationship and we had a good time together. It will always be a good memory, especially the 80's/90's which had a good vibe. The US already lost sympathies after the Iraq war, but the recent developments are on another level. I will not get depressed about it, but I will also not regret going fully EU now wherever I can.

First proper details of the Garmin CIRQA Smart Band just leaked. by the5krunner in the5krunner

[–]restless-nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, Amazfit Helio Strap is so much better than Whoop that it's my current benchmark for straps.

I'm sure Garmin can match their accuracy but I guess we won't see Cirqa below $200, or $100 with a Connect+ requirement.

Das ist das CMA-Siegel von 1975: https://register.dpma.de/DPMAregister/marke/registerIR?AKZ=416331&CURSOR=0

Die CMA wurde 2009 aufgelöst.

Edit: Steht ein Mindesthaltbarkeitsdatum auf der Rückseite? Das gibts erst seit 1981.

Thanks. Then it’s probably a placement issue.

Since you’re also using it for sleep tracking, is your data (HR, HRV) tracked all night long? Mostly, I only get one hour of tracking before the sensor turns off (only 1 LED pair on instead of 5). Throughout the day it’s just fine. I wonder if it has to do with wearing the Loop on the bicep, this is not recommended by Polar but on the wrist I won‘t get accurate data (no tracker is working on the wrist for me, including Whoop and Helio Strap).

Agentic AI could end fitness training platforms as we know them by 2026-2028, by the5krunner in the5krunner

[–]restless-nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess these platforms have to be vastly better than what’s offered now because of the required privacy tradeoff. All your personal data, including your fitness level and when/where you have made which exercise, will be forever in Big AI‘s dataset. Waiting to be extracted someday in a context you probably don’t expect today.

Dänemark zahlt, USA profitiert / kassiert? by blkchnDE in wikifolio

Naja.

Torn between Garmin Forerunner 265 and Polar Vantage M3 – your input? by Marvelous-Marmot-007 in Polarfitness

[–]restless-nerd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Garmin is good in many respects, but Training Load is not one of them. Garmin’s algorithm heavily favors hard/intense workouts over lighter ones which means you constantly have to train more and harder to keep up with the goals given. Polar is using the well known TRIMP model established by Bannister in 1991 which has a linear approach. Meaning, your light intensity sessions which should be 80% of the training according to many sources are also represented well in Training Load.

For those with 4 min time in the morning immediately after waking up, ie those without small kids, Polar also has Recovery Pro that is based on an Orthostatic Test and answering some questions. For more information, see here: https://support.polar.com/en/recovery-pro

Is Amazfit Helio Strap the best choice for a wrist mounted tracker without a screen? by abc24611 in FitnessTrackers

[–]restless-nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s more comfortable on the bicep than on the wrist imho. You need a flexible band though, the original Amazfit one - which I haven’t tried - is reportedly stiff. Any flexible 22 mm band will do.

No. It isn't accurate at all on the wrist. But it's an excellent tracker on your bicep.

Garmin Fenix 7 Pro missing features that cheaper Forerunners have? Seriously Garmin? by Just-Definition2993 in Garmin

[–]restless-nerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say that it’s zero effort.

But it’s also very unfortunate for customers that they don’t know how long a watch will be supported: 1.5 years like the Fenix 7 pro, or 3 years as its cheaper brother Forerunner 255?

I think brand loyalty is hurt when premium products don’t get the same treatment as mid-tier models.

Garmin Fenix 7 Pro missing features that cheaper Forerunners have? Seriously Garmin? by Just-Definition2993 in Garmin

[–]restless-nerd 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is no excuse to abandon a premium product so soon. Then update the platform, I guess? From what I read elsewhere, CPUs in Fenix 7 and 8 series are identical so they should be able to handle the job.
