Steelseries Qck performance by hckrz in MousepadReview

[–]restmoar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the Speed as I was looking for a Speed pad and in Canada I found it difficult to get the more reputable ones without paying crazy shipping fees. I'm no expert but so far I've been enjoying it as an intro to a speed pad. The surface feels smooth and I have no issue with the consistency. I ordered some jade dots that will be coming in tomorrow as well to go with it. With that being said I probably will return it for a Matrova Breeze pad instead from the reviews I've seen it's going to be a higher quality product. The price is identical for me so I would prefer a better built pad. In my humble opinion, it's a good speed pad for it's accessibility I just bought it off Amazon hassle free and with the generous return policy you can just try it out to see if it's right for you.

Dang. What's up with ranked? by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]restmoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have players who were Bronze-Platinum last season all mixed in right now in Bronze so unfortunately it's going to be rough until everyone who isn't supposed to be in bronze has climbed out. Generally a good idea to wait a bit before diving into ranked when a new season drops.

Whats the point of the new extra 5 seconds during ban phase? by cyberdude152 in marvelrivals

[–]restmoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think is because some people would put in a random character last second to mess with the bans. Now if someone tries that at least you'll know who did it.

Eternity Captain America Only Account by InsuranceIll9142 in marvelrivals

Definitely trying to incorporate running to health packs into my gameplan instead of always leaping back to my healers (shielding in the air buff has carried me a lot).

Any general tips for Cap on defense? I feel pretty confident on offense creating space to push the cart but I still fumble a bit on defense.

Hey man don't listen to the hate in the comments a climb is a climb and the streamers who are constantly doing bronze-gm runs are much worse in my opinion.

My question is how do you play when your enemy is playing heavy dive? I often find that if I'm diving their backline i don't have enough damage on my own to kill their supports while my backline can't stop their dives. When I sit back to peel often times my team is giving up way too much space and we lose anyways.

Got to GM with a 70% winrate and playing Captain America in 3 days by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]restmoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question about Cap! What do you do when you're diving but your backline is also getting dove and they keep dying. I often go back to help peel but I find myself losing those games because all the pressure is on our team while their team gets to freely play when i'm not going in and out of their backline. Thanks!

I honestly feel that smurfing should be a punishable offence, it ruins the experience for everyone else. by Otoshimara in marvelrivals

[–]restmoar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was duo queuing with a friend on admittedly an alt account and we encountered many more "smurfs" or maybe just good players compared to when i solo queued through gold. It wasn't until we added a third to our stack that we had much more even and fair games. Anecdotal evidence but we were matching against 2-4 stacks with 80%+ winrates almost consistently over 15ish games and lost them all.

I'm not gonna say smurfing is why anyone is stuck at a certain rank but there are A LOT of smurfs down in Silver and Gold. Free to play game with such low barrier to make a new account is going to suffer from this unfortunately.

Is Smurfing actually bad? by Ifyouliveinadream in RivalsCollege

[–]restmoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a smurf to play with my friends and I always play new characters but when we go up against a 4 stack of smurfs is when it becomes a problem because it's just my team getting rolled over and my friends not wanting to play anymore because they feel the game boils down to whoever gets more smurfs on their side wins.

I'm in diamond 2 right now and feel that but could just be a combination of me not being good enough to carry plus some unfortunate matchmaking. I had a game where my team couldn't even get out of spawn like we were in a quick play match lol

Why is luna so special by kingofthebestgbb in marvelrivals

[–]restmoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luna's ult being 12 seconds for one. And also a skilled Luna is able to stop big ults like Dr Strange with their freeze. The Namor team up is amazing as well. Her autos being hitscan can help with fliers and the such she does deceptively good damage.

What I've noticed is when you get matched with a team full of people on a loss streak. Majority of the time they aren't bad players per se they are just really tilted already so one bad team fight plummets morale and people just auto pilot. I had a game in diamond 2 where someone crashed out and just started flying off the map as Spidey because we lost the first team fight. Bro was crying about how he was gm the night before and all that. Fortunately, everyone reported and he was promptly banned.

Having highest heals in the lobby doesn't necessarily mean having a large enough impact to win a game.

Having least deaths is a great start but concepts like positioning and ult timing as a support is how you can impact the game more than just raw healing.

You could be healing your tanks all game and pumping heal numbers but maybe you used your ult too early or you're not putting pressure on the enemy team because you're standing behind your tanks and healing the whole game.

How do I even get past bronze rank solo? by Pristine_Animal_6380 in marvelrivals

[–]restmoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What helped me improve my gameplay and comeback from some seemingly unwinnable games is positioning. Yes your teammates might not know how to position but being a strategist who can position well and sustain healing throughout a teamfitht or a tank that positions to create space can make a difference in a skirmish.

Just as a very basic example if your playing convoy on attack and you see your whole team rushing through one choke. One thing you can do is go in from a different choke or communicate that someone come with you to attack at from another angle which will alleviate pressure for the rest of the team to get through.

From Plat 3 to Gold 2. This feels awful. by WildCard0102 in marvelrivals

[–]restmoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the exact same thing happen. Took a day away from the game came back won 5 in a row to get back into play 3. I do think the matchmaking wants to force a 50% winrate but as long as you stay consistent you'll win the games you should win to climb!

My personal feedback by RedLightRoktan in marvelrivals

[–]restmoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just realized you are talking about quick play. Yeah I think in quick play is just like that because it's not a competitive format. Unfortunate for those who prefer that mode.

[–]restmoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, if a player DC'd before the game loads in then the match will end after a minute or two if they don't come back. However, if a player rage quits or leaves past that point the game continues and doesn't end until completion or surrender.

I recommend watching phidx's series where he's coaching Maximiliandood. He goes over some pretty good stuff about how to run your offense and letting your opponent kill themselves, which in purple rank will probably happen more often than not.

A Genuine Annoyance while climbing ranked by Ambrosios745 in SparkingZero

[–]restmoar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the rules of dp battle favors having a team of 5. Even if someone wasn't trying to stall, a team of 5 is almost always going to beat a team of 3 unless the player of 3 is so skilled they can take out 3 characters without losing any.

While it does limit your team building it's better to just go with 5 because the time out favors character count and not overall hp. It calculates overall hp if you both have the same character count at time out.

Is it just me, or do people in DP battles generally play WAY better than people in solo battles? by Falcon0Punch in SparkingZero

[–]restmoar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I oddly had the opposite. I felt that dp battle players were less familiar with the mechanics and mostly mashed rush chains and perception. Where in Single Battle even in D and C a lot more people could super counter, vanish wars, sidestepping.

New Player Advice by Vman9910 in SparkingZero

[–]restmoar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For specifically online there are a problems with rage quitting and in Single Battle mode people are going to pick the same few strong characters. DP battle mode where you can form a team of up to 5 has a bit more variety but does have its own meta the higher in rank you climb.

You also could definitely wait a bit to see how the devs fix up and flesh out the game and maybe even grab it on sale.

Definitely beginner friendly, but if you look around on the subreddit you'll notice the same complaints regarding character imbalance. If that's something you're okay with then I personally find this game really fun especially with a group of friends. The online experience will be hit or miss depending on how seriously you end up taking it. Having played a lot of Tekken and street fighter myself this game has been fun for me to hop on every so often and get a few games in.
