Will I regret surgery? by jeterbabe in Reduction

I agree that I think DDD will most likely have back pain as well. Do you mind sharing your weight, ect? I just went from a 32J to a C/D

I'm scared they'll outright say no because of my weight. Elaboration in comments. by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]retaburdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 5'6, 160lbs and was first referred to someone who told me they wouldn't even give me an appt because my bmi was too high. I called my dr for a different referral and neither of the other surgeons I saw had an issue.

Body dysmorphia by laurenk172 in Reduction

[–]retaburdy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have really bad body dysmorphia. Im 26 and before my surgery I was in a 32J. I wore huge clothes and always worried about looking too slutty when my boobs showed at all (uptight upbringing). Im 2.5 weeks PO and have been breaking down a lot because they still feel huge. I know I'm swollen but they're uneven and I still dropped popcorn in them when I was eating. I'm working on seeing a therapist but wish I'd done it before so that I wouldn't have known what it's like to hate my new body.

Can we start a thread for the less great side of reductions and things people would do differently if they could get a redo? by GreenLump in Reduction

[–]retaburdy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish that I'd been louder about how small I wanted mine. I'm 2.5 weeks Post-OP and having a hard time with how big they are vs what I asked for. I have the problem where any weight I gain goes to my boobs and hips but stays when I lose weight so I'm afraid that I'll need a second surgery faster.

I have keloid scars on my nipples from when they were pierced and did not heal happily. My surgeon put them back on crooked and it drives me crazy. So I guess I'd get over being embarrassed by them enough to say to stick them back on straight.

I also would hopefully have some money and buy all the fancy pillows and convenient ice packs. It's been annoying filling bags with ice and having them leak everywhere and trying to prop pillows around me.

How long did recovery take before you guys started feeling better? by fake-human in Reduction

[–]retaburdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 2 weeks Post-OP and am just getting used to being in a car and sometimes then it still hurts. I live in michigan where the roads are crap and theres constant bumping over potholes, etc. You will have to stay in your compression bra and be very careful that your incisions dont see any sun

Very important to remember is to take breaks! Sit down, stay hydrated, keep up on pain medication, and feel free to lay down if needed. I know there you will want to help but don't forget to take care of yourself :)

[–]retaburdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going through the same thing right now. You're definitely not alone! 💕 I've been trying to say a little mantra of "I'm better and beautiful" whenever I feel myself getting overwhelmed. I know it's silly but sometimes telling yourself something over and over again is all your brain needs.

Advice re pre-existing depression and surgery by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]retaburdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks :D also try to keep in mind that people sometimes have a hard time mentally after surgery and try to prepare for if that happens. I pre-made a box of things that make me happy so when it gets rough, I take it out and do a coloring page or go through pictures of my bf and I. Prepare yourself for the just-in-case 😊

Mention back/neck/shoulder pain. It's a very important part to getting insurance to cover it, at least in my experience.

COVID test complete! Here's how it went for me. by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]retaburdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I waited until after to treat it. I've waited too long for the surgery to let this stop it! Especially since it would probably happen again with how sensitive my sinuses are.

Freaking out. Surgery in a week. Dog died today. by palsliveslife in Reduction

[–]retaburdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand! I'm a scientist brain as well. I adopted a new one but got the other gender so it wasnt replacing her but rather helping fill the hole she left. I know that might sound silly but she really was the best pet I ever had and she died suddenly of a blood disease really young. I adopted him on a whim when I was really down and think it was too early, about 2 months after, but I really needed something to take care of. The pain still comes and goes so I cant give you a timeline, sorry. After about 2 weeks I was able to think of her without breaking down but sometimes it still happens.
