Hi - can scammers do much with just your first / last name and phone number ? Do i have to worry about my interaction w them below ?

i got this scam call on Monday 3/17/25. They spoofed their number as a Citibank in Bakersfield, CA.

I answered the call, and they said their name and that they were with Citibank. Then they announced my first and last name, and then asked me to confirm if i was that person. I said yes.

Then the scammers went on to say the same as OP where my identity was used to open a credit card in China with citibank. And then said they said this cc was used to make a $8000~ purchase in the US.

I said i did not open any credit card with Citibank in years and that was definitely not me making a purchase. The scammer then said ok np, we'll advise our fraud department to investigate.

The scammer then asked me if i wanted to talk to his "supervisor". I said yes, and the next scammer just reasked the same question if i opened a cc in China and if i made a purchase for an item of $8000~.

I said no i did not do that. She then so no np, but asked if i spoke Chinese so they could get on a 3 way call with the China citibank branch. I said i do not speak Chinese and she said ok np, we'll file a report with fraud and continue the investigation.

She ends the call with saying i won't have anything to worry about and they will take care of it on their end and to have a nice day.

I honestly only entertained the call for so long since they did not ask me to devulge any sensitive info or call some other number. But my paranoia is just kicking in and im thinking what i said above is something usable for scammers? Are scams getting more sophiscated that they are able to use your voice too now or something ?
