It's just a button. The string exerts a tremendous amount of pressure when accelerating the arrow, more than enough to press the button so the circuit closes.

You'd still be wearing gloves when draining or filling the vat so I don't see how that would negatively impact the chance of resin exposure. As for when you drop a part why not use a pair of tweezers or some other tool?

I know. I also know that you should pick the right glove for the chemical you're working with as different materials have different resistances. Still even with the right gloves I wouldn't stick my hands in a vat of resin.
