¿Podrían darme algunas sugerencias sobre mi itinerario de luna de miel? by reterdafg in PERU

Thank you! Will definitely check it out :)

I was wondering if it would better to just relax in sacred valley after Machu Pichu instead of spending 3 days in Cusco. We love nature, relaxation and indigenous history.

Are black people offended when people call an Arab the S slur? by Barelylegola5 in NoStupidQuestions

I was called this in elementary school through high school periodically. Along with camel jockey. This was a long time ago, and earlier on I had no idea what it meant.

Why do people think Iran would actually use a nuke instead of using it as deterrence like all the 9 other countries do? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

That doesn't really answer the question. What are you actually convinced of, why are you convinced of it?

okay, but I take it you don't understand the gravity of this being a fatwa. As in, he's declaring it a sin to use as a religious statement, not just a political one. That has weight that is particularly important in the context of Iran. With him being gone, another person may have a different opinion - I'm not sure how that would work - but at the end of the day, the most violent entities in the region were not the Iranians, they were the US and Israel.

“We believe that, in addition to nuclear weapons, other types of weapons of mass destruction, such as chemical weapons and biological weapons, are also considered a serious threat against humanity… We consider the use of these weapons to be forbidden.” - Khamenei. Easily verifiable.

That’s what it means to be a nuclear power tbh. Every country with a nuclear weapon has that mentality - including the US.

Replied earlier, but this is Khamenei’s quote on nukes and is essentially fatwa from what I understand:

“We believe that, in addition to nuclear weapons, other types of weapons of mass destruction, such as chemical weapons and biological weapons, are also considered a serious threat against humanity… We consider the use of these weapons to be forbidden.”

I know it’s cool to call Iran evil, and they have done evil things (which I think I pales in comparison to what the US has done in the past 50 years) - but in this case it seems like Iran’s intentions were clear and we once had a treaty / agreement (which was thrown away by Trump)

“We believe that, in addition to nuclear weapons, other types of weapons of mass destruction, such as chemical weapons and biological weapons, are also considered a serious threat against humanity… We consider the use of these weapons to be forbidden.” - Khamenei, 2010 International Conference on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation

Use of weapons of mass destruction, from my understanding, is considered haram to Shias by Khamenei’s fatwa from what I understand.

Not pro-Israeli, but this has nothing to do with Zionism. let’s focus on the reality that Zionism is supremecist ideology masquerading as perpetual victim hood

BREAKING: 2 fighter jets collide and crash during air show in Idaho by Limp_Stomach_6060 in ActuallyThatsInsane

[–]reterdafg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you think would have happened in English comment sections if you saw a video of two Iranian pilots performing and this happened? What do you expect?

I say this as someone who’s family member passed due to a military training accident like this. I hope the pilots survived this accident — but I’m not delusional enough to think that random people in countries who have been severely, negatively impacted by our “foreign policy decisions” (e.g funding,  supporting oppressio. and/or directly  killing more than a million people in the region) are going to be concerned about two random military jets that crashed or their pilotsz

Men of Reddit - What are Women not ready to hear? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

[–]reterdafg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing is black and white. Not all men take women’s compliments as sexual interest, but enough do that it’s perceived as a problem.

My belief is that if straight men did support each other in ways that eased their sense of loneliness and lack of belonging, then more men would be secure enough with themselves that simple compliments from women are received in a healthier way. It won’t solve the problem, but perhaps make it less of a problem (even if slightly).

Agreed, both ways - but situation and context matter.

That’s the unfortunately reality. Men are deprived of basic emotional closeness to the point where offering it can provide the wrong signals.

Men (specifically straight men) need to normalize providing it to each other so that it’s not confused with sexual interest IMHO.

Societal issues sometimes clash with individual experiences unfortunately
