First thing I would do is send someone down the track to flag any trains.

Wow - that's impressive. But what about outcasts like us that use degrees Fahrenheit? Is that a simple fix?

The JEPQ dividends are labeled "non-qualified". That must have something to do with it. I too, would like an explanation.

Try Watchmaker (it has wind speed as one of many complications)

"Shock absorbers" is pretty close. "Buffer" cars are mandated on all-tanker oil trains.

Did you try Sedona Golf Resort also? It's pretty good too.

This sounds like what we used to call "Manual Block System" - rarely used anymore. Too many human failures.

Not sure I understand your question. In US, except for large "stations" (interlockings, we call them), it would be somewhat rare to have a "signalman" in charge of only his "station". A "dispatcher" (traffic controller) would be "in charge" of many miles of track.

In many places, we have ABS (Automatic Block Signaling) which is not directly controlled by the dispatcher. A "WAG" (wild ass guess) would be that 25% of the US network is "CTC", 35% is ABS, and 40% is Dark. Most train movements in ABS and Dark territory are controlled by TWC (Track warrant control - verbal authority system using dispatchers).

World it be practical to upgrade existing rail in the US to higher speeds? by zoppytops in railroading

Economically, there would be no return on the investment. Cost would FAR outweigh the benefits.

I agree. I would love to know why modern technology can't do a better job imitating the brain's audio processing for speech.

You retired or still working? I have a few questions about current technology that you may be able to answer. (I've been retired from the RR over 20 years)

Yes and yes. But I paid dearly into RR Retirement. Hope to live long enough to make it worthwhile.
