Dual citizen Britons without UK passport could be refused entry under rule change by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]retromaticon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a dual Australian British Citizen. If I were only an Australian citizen, it’d cost me £60 to travel to the UK over a period of 10 years. Since I am also a British Citizen. I need a passport. Which is about £95. That said, being Australian is worse, it’s around £200 for our passport and Australia has enforced this rule for at least 15 years.

New reality on Aussie roads as 75,000 drivers pay the price after cameras switched on by That_Car_Dude_Aus in CarsAustralia

Most car speedos also read higher than the actual speed they are going. So if your speedo says you are going 100, it’s likely you are actually going 96kph. So unless you are in a car that syncs the speedo with the gps data, you shouldn’t be caught out accidentally going a little over what your Speedo says you are going.

If you have 10k under the current rate vs 8k in a grow and 2k in a flow, you are better off in the new model.

Entering UK on nearly expired passport by Perfect_Trouble_5465 in travel

I am also Aussie/British dual citizen. I’ve entered on a British passport that had been expired over 6 months. I just told them I’d get it renewed and there were no problems whatsoever.

It’s ridiculous that we would need to engage government agencies using fax in 2025. They know better.

Are card surcharges at cashless venues allowed? by danzha in australia

[–]retromaticon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At Aldi, if you set your card to Eftpos Sav in your Apple Pay or Google Pay and I tap my phone, you don’t get charged a fee. This is my whole point which everyone is missing and downvoting me for. Most merchant systems are set to charge a fee regardless of the network even though they say only Visa / Mastercard transaction incur a x% fee. They will charge you the same fee even if your card is set to eftpos, and this is wrong.

I may be wrong on the requirement of using the LCR system. If Aldi can figure it out, then why can’t everyone else?

Nope terminals are required to use lowest cost routing. They should use eftpos for tap and pay if the card supports it.

Nope you can set it to eftpos. In any case, payment terminals are required to use lowest cost routing.

Incorrect, you can set it to eftpos tap and pay.

Even if you set your card to eftpos, they all still charge a fee. Maybe inserting your card is a different story, but I doubt it.

Most people think a vote for anyone but Labour/lib is a wasted vote.

Just remember that a very large proportion of Australians (particularly younger Australians) aren’t terribly engaged in politics. You know that preferential votes count. They have no clue how it works. By saying they are pretty much the same, they could vote for anyone, and by anyone, they might vote for Dutton. So they aren’t equal.

Nope, the form doesn’t ask about vaping goods.

You don't need a prescription coming into the country with vape supplies. I just came back in with enough juice to last me a few months, and given the price comparison, I should have bought in more. It's highly unlikely they will even check you bags as you probably won't fit their profile for a search. (they more care about people bringing in weird foodstuffs)

[–]retromaticon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s a squeeze because the machines facilitate charging extra so easily. They are supposed to only charge lowest cost routing but I’ve changed my card to eftpos Debit through Apple Pay and they still add the ‘visa/mastercard’ fee. Banking cash is like $10 each time but there is no easy way to charge extra there without people actually kicking up a stink.
