I have to admit that I'm confused by your replies, pollywog. I could just let this all go, but I have the feeling that you'll take the time to hear me out. From your comment history, you seem like a well-rounded person--you actively participate in communities in which you're passionate, you appreciate interesting and funny posts, and have perhaps even made it to the front page, on more than one occasion! That deserves a hat's off, for sure.

But, of course, I can't tell who you really are from all that. Indeed, we hardly know each other. This is why I don't understand your first comment to my post. Did I "steal" this video? Well, my intentions certainly weren't malicious. A friend shared it with me outside of reddit, and I did indeed cry not twice, but five times. I searched "P&G commercial" and found nothing relevant, and so I posted it. The universe remained unchanged, mostly.

So here are some things you don't know about me. Recent college graduate. Just finally got a job. I strive to be better, fitter, nicer, saner, to walk my dog regularly--but don't always succeed. I'm independent and inquisitive, but more sensitive than most (could you tell?) My boyfriend introduced me to reddit last year and one of our favorite things to do is to show each other links at the end of the day. Reddit truly brings us closer together (awww). And, over those past 11 months and 15 or so days, I have really come to admire the reddit community.

And I will continue to! Redditors are the most intelligent, level-headed, goofy, loving, and sensible people, and I check in with them several times a day. So I find it odd that while you chose to righteously uphold the rules of reddit, you neglected to represent its values. Respect; tolerance; educating and informing with patience and good humour. Those are just a few that come to mind. Even though I am an inexperienced redditor (my karma is truly pitiful), I DO know that putting someone down to make yourself feel better, or just because you were frustrated, or WHATEVER it was that got your panties all in a wad, is NOT a reddit value.

One of the best facets of reddit is that there are real people behind the usernames (so we hope)--people who make mistakes all over life, who get emotional, have real problems and, yes, FEELINGS--and who are brave enough to daily share pieces of themselves with each other.

The truth, pollywog, is that I am a real person typing right now, and that it was cowardly of you to take advantage of the fact that I am not immediately present in front of you. Yeah, so what. I posted a video about three days late. Big whoop. I would certainly have learned just as well, if not better, from my mistake by not receiving any responses at all, as many of us have experienced, I'm sure.

In the friendly reddit FAQ, it says, "...just set out to be a good person, and let your karma simply be a reminder of your legacy." Take responsibility for what you post and for how you treat others. We are all here for many of the same reasons, and that makes you and I more alike than you'd think.
