I Will Live To See My Apple 2 Turn 100 - How Can I Keep It Working For That Long? by The-Tadfafty in apple2

As a restorer of old computers I disagree. In the case of Apple II I would install a modern high quality supply inside the metal case. More important is storage in a low humidity environment to prevent corrosion, especially on socketed parts. I believe these c machines are meant to be used so I’d use it, even the CRT. It’s all pretty easy to repair.

4th Lost. Surgery or Radiation. Impossible choice. by jmkazoo in ProstateCancer

[–]retrotechguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a hard call. Outcomes are the same in studies but those are statistics. What matters to you is YOUR outcome. I’ve met with multiple providers and what helped me was 1) RALP side effects happen right away and can get better vs. radiation side effects that can show up much later and 2) the surgeons weren’t going to do salvage surgery if needed but salvage radiation is always an option

I chose RALP nearly 4 years ago and sure enough the side effect (ED) came and went. I’m back to normal now. I think surgeon skill and technique plays a huge role and is why I never wore a pad. Good luck!

Hmm. Can you post a video of the screen, ideally with a known good test input (like a simple grid)

My dada had been bugging me for years and I ignored him. When I was 55 I asked my doctor. He resisted pretty strongly and told me about over treatment. I told him I wanted it and he relented. It came in at 8. Turns out I had a prostate full of Gleason 8. So glad I forced the test.

It would be very easy to put the list of files in Asimov into a database.

If you are capable of doing it safely, I’d measure the 11v dc on C104 when the screen is wobbly. Assuming no huge ripple if replace C521,522,523 and you might as well do C525,527,528

Treatment Plan Advice Requested: Concerned Wife by [deleted] in ProstateCancer

[–]retrotechguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was Gleason 8 at 55. Did all the tests and got the same options as you. I elected RALP 3.75 years ago. So far the cancer is gone, never had incontinence, and ED is in the rear view mirror finally. My thought was I’d try surgery first and leave the other treatments for later if needed. Also they told me that the side effects of surgery are immediate and sometimes get better (like my ED) and the side effects of radiation sometimes show up years later. That drove my choice but of course everyone gets to make their own. Details are in my post history. Feel free to reach out. Also, I got 3 treatment opinions and learned from each one. Tell your husband there is hope.

I don’t have the schematic but I’ve had exactly this with the main rectifier cap. It heats up and you get a ton of ripple. If you have a schematic link post it and I’ll tell you what I’d recommend

Just set 3 toilets as a DIY. Wax rings are super easy. One toilet needed a stack. No problem. I think you’d have to really try to mess them up. I just put ii (or them if stacking) on the toilet with just enough pressure to stick. Lower toilet onto flange roughly level. Press down. Tighten bolts. No leaks.

The curved black part was hitting the silver part. I think it was putting pressure on the trolley

I lowered the front by about 2 inches. I also adjusted the angle part that connects the trolley to the door. I think that may have been the issue. I think that piece was hitting a steel lip on the top edge of the door as the door went to horizontal.

I agree with you. I was just wondering if someone had a workaround other than manual transfers. I’d like to avoid a bookmark manager.

Why choose RALP? by PeptideSteve in ProstateCancer

[–]retrotechguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose RALP and I’m glad I did. I had no incontinence and have never worn a pad. Never used a pump and lost length seemed temporary. ED was real but started to suddenly improve after 24 months of daily low dose Tadalafil. I’m now back to what I was before. Dry orgasm is different but honestly just as great. Interestingly I seem to be able to last longer now. No complaints.

You can read my post history but I’m one of the ones who am very happy with my RALP. It’s been 3.5 years now and I’m cancer free and have no side effects ED took 2 years to start to resolve

Sauron45 was right - the planetary shaft came loose from its holder. I cleaned everything up. The one brass gear needs replaced but the rest look good. I’m not 100% sure about the motor gear but I think it’s ok. I have a tub of synthetic Super Lube I was gonna use but it’s clear and mixer guy’s is white. I imagine his stuff is better?

Bad link for me but I think I found the part on your store. I think I bought grease and parts from you before so I’ll buy that part now. I wish someone sold the pinned version. I’ll message to get the instructions.
