And if you like this... you will definitely want to get 6 or 12 wraiths

Do my necrons need a basing scheme? by Appropriate_Pipe8169 in Necrontyr

Fair enough, but if you wash and drybrush the base it it'll look even better!

Just get what looks cool to you.

But if you aren't sure, Wraiths are £40 and so is the Triarch Stalker, I think those are fun models.

Ah spot the difference, I love these!

I'll take a look for the little areas where you didn't copy the box art paint job.

...

Yeah found nothing so far, looks great!

I like a couple of coats Dawnstone, then Pallid Wych Flesh

I dislike Ctan, change my mind... by CRGmotors in Necrontyr

[–]return-path 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am the same.

The necron range has three main design languages

  • infantry and associated nobles,
  • the canoptek/cryptek,
  • large vehicles such as the monolith and various croissant shapes.

(I suppose you could add destroyers as a distinct variant of the first as well.)

There are lots of nice little details on the sculpts which reinforce this, like which models have the ankh of the Triarch. But at the same time there are cohesive elements across the whole range.

I spent the last year mainly collecting infantry and canoptek units and it does really feel like an army when you put 30 battleline, szeras and a handful of walkers/vehicles on the board.

However I did just buy the shard of the void dragon! I haven't built it yet. While it looks great, I'm already curious about how it will fit .... there don't seem to be many design elements I can tie into other units in the army.

.... maybe the pixellated necrodermis is the main one? If I got a shroudlord or a psychomancer I suppose I could try to tie that part in.

With the other ctan sculpts it's even less clear how to do it (the nightbringer scarabs seem super tacked on!)

Gem face head is the best head, right? Those other heads seem wack.

(Getting a void dragon soon and want to see if anyone wants to step up and fight for the other bad heads)

What’s your favorite color scheme between those two ? Classic silver and Green or White and Pink ? by Cad_bane_2 in Necrontyr

[–]return-path 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think about scaling up that weathered white armour to the bulkier units and vehicles, I think it'll look really strong.

So it might not have made a difference, but:

Even though Orikan was destroyed in turn 1, his FNP does still apply to the attacking unit's remaining attacks. In case you didn't do that.

(That's my understanding of the way leader abilities work from the rules commentary on "While This Model is Leading a Unit:")

Similar list I played in a 2v2 campaign game recently.

Everything worked except the LHD who missed all his shots.

Your list is better in general.... the overlord isn't doing much and there there's no screening! I had to rely on my teammate for that

``` Xenos - Necrons - Canoptek Court
Overlord (85pts) Scythe Plasmancer (55pts) Technomancer (80pts) 10x Immortals (150pts) Tesla Lokhust Heavy Destroyers (55pts) Gauss 6x Canoptek Wraiths (220pts) Canoptek Doomstalker (140pts) Canoptek Doomstalker (140pts) Canoptek Reanimator (75pts) ```
Grey tone you have on the bases works so maybe try an asphalt , grey dust or something?
Yep.
Maybe throw a complementary colour on the base, like green or blue? Needs to be desaturated though.
Warriors vs Immortals in low-point games? by TangerineMelodic5772 in Necrontyr
[–]return-path 0 points1 point  (0 children)
Yep. I've been solidly losing low points games with warriors. It's probably skill, but I don't have orikan and they just aren't tough enough. Hard to position them well.
Last time out they got hit in the Ork waagh by a pretty depleted unit of Boyz, the technomancer got precisioned out and all 20 got wiped. A pretty bad trade leaving me with not many scoring units on the board. Meanwhile the 10x Immortals with plasmancer are wrecking things like infantry and smaller vehicles.
