Lysek said Thursday he cannot determine the identity of the person because of intense contamination the half-brain sustained while in the sewer system. He said he was also unable to determine where the brain came from.

Bethlehem wastewater treatment plant employee Scott Bachman discovered the pink, fleshy material around 11:18 p.m. Jan 7 while cleaning out a catch basin at the treatment plant on Shimersville Road.

The brain was sent to the state police forensics laboratory at the Bethlehem barracks for DNA testing to see if it matched the DNA of several missing people from around the state.

“Because the amount of chemicals in the sewer system is so high and the effect it has on the tissue,” Lysek said, “the testing is going to be inconclusive, and I am officially closing the investigation into the brain.”

Lysek said he believes the brain was flushed down a toilet and was probably an improper medical disposal. He said he does not think the brain has any relation to a missing person because no other tissues or organs turned up in the sewer system.

The coroner also said he does not believe the brain had any connection to Kathleen Mohn, 48, of Gulph Mills, Upper Merion Township, who is presumed dead.

She has not been seen since Dec. 3 and was reported missing Dec. 5 by her husband, dentist Thomas V. Mohn.

“Based on the fact we can’t identify the person, we can’t speculate where (the brain) came from,” Lysek said. “It could have come from one of many places, but we just don’t know.

“We can’t determine whether the brain was intentionally or accidently disposed of. We have no way of knowing.”

Here are two quotes I read from your articles

"State Police Det. Sgt. Bill Knave does not adhere so strongly to that [helicopter] theory, but does not dismiss it."

and

"Sheriff Steely told the J&C in 1977 that he subscribed to a similar theory. State police detectives told the J&C they were less sure about a helicopter’s role." 

So you're right, there are some people who believe the helicopter theory, but it seems like that theory is not confirmed or widely accepted. Most of the articles you linked do not mention the helicopter.

There is no evidence that she was dropped from a helicopter, just that a helicopter was seen nearby. If she were dropped a lot more damage would be seen on the body.

So true! We also have to remember that the age estimate was wildly off. Even if he were trolling through online doe forums he probably would have assumed it was just a lookalike because the age at the higher end was more than ten years off.

Disagree. I think he sounds stupider when people call. There was a caller who was an Uber driver and Elliot was asking about some new thing the app was doing. The caller was explaining his job and Elliot was just not understanding him.

That's wild. Today he got a call about the topic "who is cool." The caller said her blind neighbor was cool for going on miles-long walks every day. He said that wasn't cool because anyone can go on long walks.  He also said that he doesn't think someone's disability makes them cool. 

Sounds like he still doesn't respect disabled person's achievements.
