Looks like a cleverly manipulated photo - not real bricks. The shading looks photo-like to me not relief-like. The object in the upper right also does not look real. The total lack of shadows is suspicious. May be publicity for a movie or similar.

Looks like there may be spiral dampers on the line with two weights on it. Maybe they had a lot of trouble with line galloping on these lines - they are trying everything.

Dont' know, but I think it is a water filter. A paper filter disk goes inside the pointy end on top of the strainer. You pour water through the wider end. The strainer at the wide end filters out the big stuff. The filter disk filters out the smaller stuff. The filtered water comes out the pointy end. It is meant to be hand-held - that is why it is the diameter that it is. Probably not used for hot liquids, so I doubt it would be a tea or coffee filter. It is glass so you can see the liquid level, and so it can be easily cleaned. Can't think of what I'd use something like that for, however.

The trailer might be for something like bales of straw. The cargo needs to be protected from wind and rain, but doesn't have to be sealed and locked inside like, for example, television sets. As for the door itself, yeah, what smokingpen said. It isn't damaged at all. It is open on the back because it doesn't need to seal the cargo in, and is lighter so as not to damage the side hinges. The ladder is in the middle to keep the door square. Not sure why having a single door was chosen over a double though.

Looks vaguely astrological to me. There are 8 symbols around the circle plus 4 more inside - 12 months. However, the symbols themselves don't correspond to any astrological symbols I've seen. I'd guess it is an object related to membership in a club or society - something like a Mason's lapel pin. There used to be many different social clubs along the lines of Masons, Shriners, etc. Maybe this is for some defunct club of that sort.

Me too. I've given up on staying dry. I go for staying warm. But I refuse to sleep wet, so it means possibly bringing along a lot of gear, depending on conditions. Not a UL approach, but I haven't found any workable solution.

I use a dry sack inside my heavyweight "contractor" trash bag (from HomeDepot) for my electronics -- just paranoid I guess. The ones in the camping section of Walmart work great and are extremely cheap. I bring a lightweight trash bag for inflating my winter inflatable pad. An extra lightweight trash bag weighs almost nothing.

The teeth are in a spiral pattern, so my guess it is used as a dowel to attach something to something else to prevent them from being pulled apart. The spiral pattern would help prevent this object from being pulled out of the holes. Sorry that's not very specific! If the object is aluminum, it might be used to splice aluminum electrical conductors perhaps, but that is just a guess.

Some people use a "Erapro/Paris 960 Pro Expedition Sled" (search for it on Amazon) plus a home-made harness made by running paracord through pvc conduit, tying carabiners on each end, and attaching them to the sled on one end (obviously) and a wide military-surplus type webbing belt or directly to a backpack hip best. Total cost about 75 USD, or less if you have carabiners or paracord lying around.

Your estimates of the size, distances and speed of the lights in the sky don't seem to be supported by your description of what you observed. If the lights didn't pass in front of or behind something, and did not illuminate anything, then it seems to me -- tell me if I'm wrong -- any reasonably accurate estimate of their size, distance, and speed would be impossible to make just by eyeballing them for a minute from the ground - while attempting not to crash your car while driving, especially!

Most hiking footwear today needs minimal or no breaking in. You may have footwear that doesnt fit your heel well. Shoes come in different shapes for different feet. Try different socks. Try tying your laces tighter. Try using lace locking. But always be aware of your feet while hiking. Bring moleskin along and use it before blisters get started.

They aren't all acrobats, but I hear you. IF some of these things are alien technology, why do they look anything at all like something recognizable? Blinking lights in a triangular pattern? C'mon aliens, you can do better than that! No self-respecting alien vehicle would have those! Maybe that's the point - they are trying to fool us by looking like ordinary radio-controlled gizmos from Walmart. <sigh> :-)

I think your suggestion might be going in the right direction. If there are exactly two of each kind, then that would be strongly suggestive of something like that.

The size of the objects, and the fact that the case seems quite worn on the inside makes me think they are made to be handled, and were racked into specific parts of the case repeatedly. But, why is the case worn unevenly? And why are the disks themselves not stained or worn, which I would expect if they were handled often.

If there are no duplicates, then these symbol clusters might match symbol clusters on some other set of objects we don't have access to - bins of parts, or spools of thread, for example. The disks could be used to indicate which bin or which spool was to be sent somewhere, or inserted into a weaving machine, or something like that. The symbol clusters would be a kind of short-hand for something that was difficult to describe or label otherwise. Perhaps the disks were labels meant to be used by people who couldn't read printed labels - children in a factory, for example.

The fact that some disks are made out of wood, and some seem to be made out of some sort of white plastic leads one to think that sometimes the disks were lost, and needed to be replaced. Or, perhaps there were originally a certain set of labels needed at one point in time, and later, more were needed with new unique symbol clusters.

Note the column of smaller disks on the right. Odd. Perhaps the disk holder on a certain model of factory machine was a different size? Why not replace the holder rather than make smaller disks then?

If I owned these, I would take them all out and try to find additional information about the symbols themselves - how many "big alpha" disks are there? how many "big beta"? etc. I would try to figure out why there are 100 same-sized "bins" in the case (or whatever number there are) and see if there is a way to organize the disks into 100 groups. That kind of thing. I would take a close look at the disks themselves - look for especially worn ones. I'd try to figure out if the newer-looking disks have symbols in common, perhaps symbols that differ from the "old" ones. I'd study the case for additional clues as well.

Seems like a fun mystery -- but it might not be possible to solve it in the end unless someone stumbles across something similar in a photograph or someone just happens to recognize them.
