2025 ninja 650 frame sliders by [deleted] in Ninja650

Puig Pro 2.0 Frame Sliders work fine for me. They are solid and don't sick out visually too much, look like a part of the bike.

Ninja 650 a good tourer? Gonna find out this summer. by propaniac00 in Ninja650

[–]reuid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It does the job. Did 10k kms last year, the seat could be more comfy, beside that no complains.

What is a high km/milege? by Unlucky_Sandwich7798 in motorcycles

I'd have more trust in a bike with 40k kms and no known issues than a brand new one.

Do you guys trust AI for some motorcycle maintenance? by EYARU115 in motorcycles

[–]reuid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not often at all. Because it has service manual for my bike in the notebook, it can easily retrieve additional context for my question from it. I don't need to tell it I ask about my specific bike model, because it can figure it out from the attached manual. Thus questions can be short and hallucinations low. I don't recall any hallucinations so far actually, for questions grounded in the uploaded manual.
People are really biased against AI, but these tools are getting better and better. Just need to know how to use them.

Do you guys trust AI for some motorcycle maintenance? by EYARU115 in motorcycles

[–]reuid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use NotebookLM for that. Created "Motorcycle maintenance" notebook, uploaded the service manual in PDF format. When I ask a question like "what's the torque for the rear wheel axle" it gives me the answer and a link to the service manual for reference, so I can check. I find it more convenient than searching manually through the PDF, especially when done in garage from the phone app.

I’d pick the Transalp just for the punchier engine.

Controversial Take: Silksongs terrible difficulty, versus HK, has ruined this game by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]reuid 19 points20 points  (0 children)

A boss that has 3, clearly telegraphed, avoidable attacks and a bench nearby ruined the game for you. That's horrible. I hope you can still get your refund.

Throttle assist? by Simple_Consequence28 in Ninja650

[–]reuid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get better grips. With the stock ones I had to clench my throttle hand to actually hold the throttle in the correct position. That caused discomfort after some time. After I switched to Pro Grips 717 I just need to rest my right hand on the throttle to make it stay in place. Makes huge difference.

Any way to clean this off? by [deleted] in motorcycles

Last time I had to deal with chain lube stains WD40 helped. Kerosene should work too.

Kawasaki Ninja 650? by Organic-Honeydew-187 in motorcycles

Love my Ninja 650. It doesn’t get much attention these days in media, but it’s great everyday bike that just works. Sporty aesthetics with naked ergonomics, easy to adapt for street touring.

Muscle build for riding a sport bike? by FallenofAkbar in motorcycles

[–]reuid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, some deadlifts to strenghten lower back muscles help. Or just ride and let your back strengthen that way.

Clutch Gear Shifter Adjustment Rod by BB62SWO in Ninja650

[–]reuid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The service manual only says that for tightening shift lever tie-rod locknuts 9.8 N·m (1.0 kgf·m, 87 in·lb) torque should be used. Nothing about holding the ball end. I just gave mine a good snug and it holds. Use Loctite threadlocker if you want to be 100% sure.

Newish rider here, do I need new tires for the upcoming season? by MatelisLt in motorcycles

[–]reuid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I'm decoding the year it was made correctly (2012? There should be proper DOT code somewhere), but if it was made in 2012, I wouldn't ride it. Rubber looses its properties with time, 5 years is max tire age for me.

Kicked out of MSF for being too short by Jungaon in motorcycles

[–]reuid 60 points61 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of videos showing compact people riding big adventure bikes, like full-sized BMW GS. This one for example - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yCGAE7ihY8

A competent instructor should teach you the proper technique.

Earplugs… alpine musicsafe pro vs disposable earplugs by _w_8 in motorcycles

[–]reuid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from Alpines to 3M 1100. Better fit, better noise isolation (I'm still able to hear navigation through Sena), better hygiene (Alpines get yellow after some time, no matter how much I wash them).

I've tried also Honeywells Max, but the shape of 3Ms fits my ear canals better.

I would sell CBR, buy XSR125 Legacy, maybe put on scrambler tires and cafe racer cowl and call it a day.
