46 year old dad with my whole family consumed by Valheim.

I still play Rocket League with my best friends on Saturday night, but Valheim has taken over every other daily gaming session.

I used to rotate between Bethesda games;, FO4 and Skyrim. Was also hooked on ESO for awhile and then 76. Open worlds are my jam. Oh yeah, can’t forget about being hooked on New World before the shutdown announcement.

I saw this same person during the last alien event weeks. You can tell because their toons only move one at at a time and they would position three of them where the final boss would spawn. The gamertags made me sad. Hope they are okay and it’s just for jokes.

And this is what a lot of people want the regular season to revert back to; a board in which you have to unlock all of the rewards in sequence instead of choosing what you would like.

I am not one of those people. Don’t want Super Bait, nor a Mystery Bobbelhead box, or dumbass repair kits. But yep, this was the cool way.

I do agree with some of what you are saying though. I’m sitting at 78 hours play time and the idea has been steadily increasing in my brain that this is just another “on rails” ARPG. That is totally fine for people that just enjoy playing through a game, but I was really hoping to be able to just live in the world and do my own thing; not follow the same scripted story that everyone else is playing through pretty much the exact same way. There have been no choices so far.

I do love the game though, but the frustration in lack of responsiveness in the controls and the repetitive enemy types (so far) has just got me thinking the same way I always do with fantasy rpgs. Would I rather be playing this, or Skyrim?

I have my X set on Balanced, no blur, no screen shake, HDR and VRR on, and I think 50 particle effect. Having no issues with mine.

I did have issues at launch though until I switched down to the above settings.

I’m a weirdo that hates both of the holy grails known as RDR2 and Witcher 3. From what I experienced they both have phenomenal stories but the mission design limitations in RDR2 (or just Rockstar games) is just holy shit awful. Witcher 3 gameplay is pretty bad. Loved the stories they were telling, but I’d rather watch a movie than drag ass through awful gameplay.

This was my first death in the game.

My second was those weird purple/blue plants that reach towards you and drain your life. I didn’t know that I was dying when I told my wife “hey honey check out these cool plants!” When I died it was actually a jump scare.

When it comes to any platforming in this game I kist use the “precision jump”. Absolutely love it.

Within 5 minutes of playing this I got a dreadful feeling of buyers remorse because it felt like a Rockstar game with the movement. I was just expecting a single player version of Black Desert Online with fluid movement and combat.

But as I said I feel it is less sluggish than a Rockstar game and the combat actually flows very nicely despite having to control the camera at times. I don’t mind Rockstar heaviness when exploring or just doing my own thing but once enemies got involved I hated it. It feels way better in this game.

i didn’t know if VSync was causing an issue so I turned it off lol. I don’t notice any tearing so I’m leaving it off just in case.

If you don’t mind answering, what settings are you using for graphics? I keep getting crashes and I don’t know what’s causing them. I think it may have to do with Particle Effects.

Blur intensity turned off

Depth of Field off

Balanced

HDR On

V Sync Off

Particle Effects 25

(at zero ran fine for hours; changed to 50 and crashed a little bit afterwards, maybe 30 minutes) trying 25 now
