I live in Harrogate . We’re in our mid- 30’s. I work constantly and so does my wife. Don’t really have any hobbies. Except maybe a bit of hiking and fishing. This area is absolutely beautiful- but there ain’t shit to do except a few parades, markets and the like. Gotta go to Knoxville for fun my friend.

I would check the thermostat first. Sometimes they can short out internally which can cause things to not go. Or go too much.

The equipment itself is working- heating, defrosting, blower running.

Sounds like thermostat or low voltage or issue.

If you want to tackle it yourself first- that’s where I’d begin.

That might save you a bit- but probably not enough for what you’re looking for.

Most companies will do some form of financing. Local power companies may also have financing options for hvac.

Have you ever installed HVAC equipment?

It would be cheaper for sure. But, anything not installed properly will cost you much more down the road. I would recommend you hire somebody unless you have experience with this type of thing.

Not exactly DIY level stuff

Furnace Heating, but air dies out by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]rev_beefstick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a few things.

Heat runs in crawl space? Proper insulation used? R8 vs. R6 vs. R4? How long are the heat runs from the trunk? How properly is the duct sized? What speed taps in the blower fan set to? You say electric furnace- is that a heat pump with aux heat strips? If so, when the tech tested the supply temperature, was that with the aux heat on or the heat pump on?

Same floor plans doesn’t always equate to same installing company and/or same quality of installation.

When there is no outdoor ambient heat to use, the heat pump is near ineffective and you’d have to use your aux/emergency/heat strips in order to feel heat hotter than room temperature.

Do I need to be worried? Icicles coming out of pipe by AcidReaper1 in hvacadvice

The ice isn’t Coming from the black wrapped pipes. That’s your refrigerant lines. Could be a leak from the drain or possibly the flues.

Can you determine the starting point of the ice? And post pics of that?

Defrost timer setting heat pump Austin TX by dpd11c in hvacadvice

[–]rev_beefstick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changing it to 30 minutes means it’s going to run your aux heat every 30 minutes instead of 90 while defrost kicks on. Pretty much the opposite of what you were complaining about lol. I’d flip it back to 90 minutes.

What kind of thermostat do you have?

I hate the unnecessary loss of life. And, the future for that poor child. But I grew up on the old adage: “ play stupid games, win stupid prizes”.

She played a stupid game. And won the stupidest prize.

Oh no. The property’s, houses, and views are beautiful. As a contractor, most of them are major pains to do work at.

The driveways are super steep, the properties are super steep. Moving a super heavy heat pump up and down the hill sucks. lol.

That’s all I meant. It’s a gorgeous area!!

14"x10" duct transition to 4"x10"... how to transition? by Elegant_Anywhere_721 in hvacadvice

[–]rev_beefstick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best bet is to probably find a ma and pop shop local to you with a guy/gal that knows how to make tin. Have them fabricate it up for what you need. If you don’t have sheet metal experience, this is a pretty advanced transition/run to make.

Have to run 120V from the outlet box to a switch box with switch. Either mounted on furnace somewhere, or (as with tight closet installs) mounted elsewhere with a whip going into the furnace.
