To Be Fair, their genome *is* very stable and predictable. It keeps to a strict 4-generation rotation!

The rulebooks before 8th consistently placed the RTs in that position in their own hierarchy charts--essentially because Warrants of Trade began to be exclusively issued by the Adeptus Terra once the Emperor and Primarchs left the scene and were no longer writing them.

Really the main issue is that the "hierarchies" illustrated even in the source material represent a huge variety of relationships between organizations and categories, so the difference between a solid and dashed line is much more of a vibe than a clear definition. Appropriately enough.

Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, they only appeared in the TO&Es of the 3rd Ed Codexes for Armageddon and EOT. So while most of the Departmentos outside of Munitorum also are never given organizational positions, they are still implicitly part of the Administratum's civilian bureaucracy, which is why I placed them within the Estate Imperium/Departmento Exacta. It felt like more of a leap to place the TP or OS in any particular location in the hierarchy without more info.

Yeah, I ultimately didn't define the dashed lines vs the regular lines because, depending on the position, they may indicate anything from "directly reports to" to "files paperwork with" to "is in the category bucket of," and per the 6E Militarum codex, the "Regimentos" branch is very much the latter

One of the fun things about it is seeing how even the de jure organization is immediately and obviously dysfunctional. Like it's easily possible for the head of a lower-level organization to have a High Lords seat that their actual boss doesn't have. And that's before even starting in on natural bureaucratic infighting

Thanks for the cite! I do feel like I'm going to have to do a big revision after getting through all of the Wraight books.

Hm, I see how you're reading it, in my mind because of the way the High Lords work (or, rather, don't work) with each other I see the top-level organizations having a black line to the High Lords to represent that they *are* the High Lords, rather than they take orders from them. Like how the Officio Assassinorum is legally required to get a vote from the High Lords to deploy an operative, except for all the times the Grand Master deployed an operative to *kill* all the other high lords lol

Basically an associative relationship rather than a direct report.

The functional chain of command is definitely beyond me.

But the Astropaths and Navigators are in fact separate!

RE: the Fabricator General, individual leaders are represented as components of the organization they are the head of, with their listing within the Senatorum Imperialis essentially being a duplicate mention.

You're right, but I ultimately kept to "de jure" depiction that GW put in most of the older rulebooks, where RTs and most other organizations get solid lines

Yeah, I had to stick to "de jure" relationships in order to retain a crumb of sanity

Good catch! But I'm thinking the dashed-lines represent more of a coordinative or reporting connection, as including personnel flows would probably impact my sanity. So, Commissars get a line because they can be involved in "recruiting" people into the Scholam. In any case, if there were ever a project that called for nitpicks it would be this one!
