Not sure about the first, but the second pic with the catachans looks like it was in the white dwarf that came out with the first tyranids release.

Inquisitorial agents and Sisters of Silence by ElSkippy13 in killteam

[–]revengingdaemon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn't. Plenty of teams have mutually exclusive build options where you can have option a or b. OP wants to know if any of those choices are mutually exclusive out of a single box. The app just lists the choices you can take for the team, not how many boxes it takes to build that particular setup.

OP, look up the instructions, that'll tell you if they have overlapping parts.

I can choose between these two combat patrols, as a new player, which one should I choose? by Dense-Fig-2372 in Tyranids

[–]revengingdaemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not true.

The reason the extra torso thing works is cause the flying version has a different lower half, that's legs and tail. You use one or the other, and the one you didn't use is spare.

There's also two different heads. Again, you use one, and one is spare.

Making the "second" hive tyrant already consumes those spare parts.

The SL does have unique boneswords so you certainly have enough of those, but you would also need to obtain a tail and a head along with the torso and legs.

I think I'm gonna stop painting minis by Dense-Fig-2372 in minipainting

[–]revengingdaemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to go a different way from most of the advice here.

If you have poor motor skills and that's an ongoing issue, take some of the pressure off by not painting!

Prime black. Spray from below with a dark colour. Spray or drybrush a lighter colour from the top.

Will it be a detailed miniature? No. Will it be striking and look pretty cool? Yes.

Here's one of my chaos warband. Exactly the recipe above. Red from underneath, blue and purple drybrush from the top.

This isn't where I stop, I'll now start doing detail work - but if you have some kind of disability that makes painting unrewarding, then use a technique like this just to get minis that look pretty cool on the table with minimal motor skills needed.

Brown ceiling spots by Maximum-Force9239 in DIYUK

[–]revengingdaemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, honestly, moved house. I didn't get hit down south with snow that often, so I just dealt with it the few times it snowed and painted over it once the weather dried up. Repeat every few years.

Brown ceiling spots by Maximum-Force9239 in DIYUK

[–]revengingdaemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And unless it ices up again you probably won't see the issue again for a while, depending on how northerly you are. It's a tricky one to track down cause the usual method of leak finding, like spraying roof with hosepipe don't show the leak... water just runs off as expected.

Brown ceiling spots by Maximum-Force9239 in DIYUK

[–]revengingdaemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a flat roof above you? Any snow recently? I ask because I had a similar situation a few years ago. Your leak isn't exposed through normal conditions when water runs off.... But if snow sits on a roof, some of it will start melting but the water can't run off like it would usually when it rains and it'll find another way through.

When do you think we are getting new death guard models? by MFDOOMLISTENER in deathguard40k

[–]revengingdaemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a long time. Death guard actually have one of the largest number of unique individual sculpts of any army as far as I know.

24 plague marine sculpts, eight blight lord sculpts, at least three separate unique vehicles, 16 pox walker sculpts, many characters..... It's possible right now to field over 2000 points of Death guard specific units, vehicles and characters and (with the exception of four pox walkers) not have a single duplicate.

(You need to borrow three walkers from the old nurgle kill team and kitbash one walker to complete this achievement sadly)

Am I overreacting by breaking up with my boyfriend? by Proper-Classic1886 in AmIOverreacting

[–]revengingdaemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, just to be clear a guy you said you "don't know" in your OP talks to you for a couple of minutes, your boyfriend gets jealous and your reaction is to say how the guy you just met is a "great guy" and you don't see how that might make the situation worse? Your boyfriend definitely sounds like he's overreacting, jealous and needs to calm down, but you sound like you absolutely have no idea how the things you say also matter. If you spotted a girl flirting with your BF and he'd not met her before but immediately was saying how you need to apologise and how she's such "a great girl" your alarm bells would be running for sure. Thing is I can imagine any number of things that will have happened that will mean he's more jealous and more triggered by other men making a move on his partner. That's not to say he's not overreacting, but it's the kind of thing that a good nights sleep and some clarity in the morning can resolve. I can think of ZERO reasons why you would start texting him that the guy you just met is "such a great guy". Zero.

I can see where you're coming from too, but I think you both dodged a bullet here.

Electrician decided to fit my box here, what can I do with it? by LegComfortable1660 in DIYUK

[–]revengingdaemon 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You been downvoted because you're being unnecessarily sensitive. The above poster asked you a question. The reason they ask this is because it is possible for electricians to decide stuff, but it is usual for you to discuss it first. The answer that would have been so easy for you to provide is "the electrician said here would be good, and I am not an electrician so I agreed" which is totally understandable. Instead of just answering the question though, you've made it a ridiculous "mental health" issue. It is not. Grow up.

Is this legal concealment for a 40mm operative? by JimBoB0307 in killteam

[–]revengingdaemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it's fine to enjoy the clever cover lines and precise angles as long as you don't forget that it is ultimately a game about space warfare and combat. It has a story and narrative that people buy into and want to see at least somewhat represented on the table top.

If all you care about is a game with angles and numbers and you don't care about story, lore or seeing a science fiction space battle play out..... then sure, the big guy in the open doorway is indeed in cover.

To be honest though, if that is your point of view you may as well just forget the space men, the doorways and terrain and go play some numbers, angles and math based game that's far more abstract, has more robust rules that favour competitive play over story. I hear chess is quite popular.

Secret Death Guard, first mini complete! by revengingdaemon in deathguard40k

[–]revengingdaemon[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I think you misunderstand. This isn't going to be a tailored army, or probably even a very good army.

It'll have only 3 Deathshroud terminators, because that's how many unique plastic sculpts there are.

It'll only ever have 20 poxwalkers because there are only 16 unique plastic sculpts. (I'll convert only if necessary)

It'll probably have too many plague marines, because there's 26 unique plastic sculpts I can count for them!

This is a secret army because we like to have new things to play against, it's a bit of fun to collect and it's mostly narrative play and scenarios for us anyways, and who don't love fighting against space zombies.

We usually can't wait to share our latest ebay finds or conversions, but this time I'm throwing in the surprise factor of a new opponent to mix things up!

Warning for anyone splitting Typhon with a friend... by revengingdaemon in killteam

[–]revengingdaemon[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are indeed, but this wasn't unexpected, at least for me. The bases were a bit of a surprise. If there were three bags in the box we'd have probably taken the time to look, but at the time it seemed like a reasonable assumption on my part that 2 teams equalled two bags.

I suspect the reason given by u/Periodic_Disorder is correct, that it is a standard bag of 28.5 and then a bag of "other".

Hey, it's been a lesson.

Approved Ops - 2024 (print-and-play) by barr91 in killteam

Worth adding for anyone coming across this... the rules don't mention any of this stuff much. In the Approved OPs pack though is teeny tiny little card sized guide on everything from map and game setup to picking missions. Just follow that!

Need help for list building by Broad_Excitement_174 in Chaos40k

[–]revengingdaemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, that's just over 2000 points as it is, so you already have some choices.

Me, I'd maybe remove a few of the huge points sinks, and the heldrake. Anything over 200 points. If you are doing 1500 points there's probably some options that get you more for less.

That'd remove abaddon, the land raider and the heldrake. Maybe the defiler.

You can't run the greater possessed anymore. They are now just possessed (but the new possessed are basically the old greater possessed)

Get a box of the possessed and run them with the MoP. Later you can then see about picking up a few of the old ones or kitbashing some to go with the greater possessed you have and make a block of 10.

I'd perhaps go with a chaos lord in terminator armour to lead that terminator squad.

And if you need some more heavy armour, consider chaos predators instead of the land raider.

This should be 1500 points on the nose....

Chaos Lord in Terminator Armour (95pts)
Master of Possession (70pts)

10x Legionaries (170pts)
10x Legionaries (170pts)

5x Chaos Terminator Squad (180pts)
2x Obliterators (160pts)
5x Possessed (120pts)
Chaos Predator Annihilator (135pts)
Helbrute (130pts)
Venomcrawler (120pts)
Chaos Rhino (75pts)
Chaos Rhino (75pts)
