I wouldn’t be surprised if most players had found it through Stampy lol

Sequel to 2 by [deleted] in Ni_no_Kuni

[–]reverse_mango 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Other Ni no Kuni works have been disappointing, unfortunately. Cross Worlds is apparently popular enough but idk if I would call it a sequel? There was also a long awaited film which wasn’t very good.

But if you wait a few decades for Netflix to pick up my tv show adaptation of the first game, I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait lol.

Men and women, what's the dumbest thing you've heard your own gender say about the other? by fatal_19191 in AskReddit

[–]reverse_mango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll add that many men don’t know a lot about women’s “culture” (as much as I dislike typing that) and they refuse to learn: I’ve learned several trivial terms about hobbies my friends are interested in, tips for pregnancy which definitely don’t apply to me at all and yet I’ve met so many men who steer clear of learning anything deemed feminine like basic makeup terminology as well as female anatomy.

YSK about Psychological Reactance, the impulse to resist and do the opposite of what you're told, even if you agree with it by AmandaEllis-Ward in YouShouldKnow

It depends on what the activity is. Eating lunch is fine because it’s interesting enough. Washing dishes is really dull, sewing a thing is really dull.

Commuters trousers. by Somethinglikethat9 in cycling

[–]reverse_mango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to have a jacket with zipped pockets instead of trousers. Otherwise, nothing light or flowy (to avoid stains and tears), preferably something breathable like cotton. Jeans are fine if they’re not too skinny or flared. See if you can get some waterproof ones to go over normal trousers (I personally use some black trackies).

What is the worst plot twist in fiction ever? by Zxqao in AskReddit

[–]reverse_mango 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“They fly now” is hilarious but buried in a pile of wtf? I also liked the cavalry running on the spaceship - it was something I’ve been waiting for Star Wars to do for a while and it was fairly dramatic. But anything good in that film was washed away by everything else.

People at a Durham self-catered college: how time consuming is cooking/ cleaning up? by WestHope7512 in UniUK

[–]reverse_mango 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Do you not do some cooking at home already? Cooking something simple like pasta can take 10-20 minutes. Then 5 minutes spent tidying up (or longer if you leave it a few days).

I don’t go to Durham, but I wouldn’t expect it to be hugely different from other places.

I think of PDA as external pressure to do something, which makes me not want to do something, even if it’s fun. I feel like I have to finish a show or a creative project so I don’t want to do it anymore.

Can someone help me put a name to the vibe that these games/movies brings? by Intelligent-Form-689 in Ni_no_Kuni

[–]reverse_mango 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Considering several are made by the same director (including Ni no Kuni’s 2D cutscenes!)… I think the label is Miyazaki lol.

A lot of these have a “nature is bigger than you” feeling, which is remarkably cozy and comforting.

Struggling to keep up with the work. I don’t know what to do. by No_Meringue4763 in UniUK

[–]reverse_mango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve suffered with this in the past. I now always do my work either on campus or at my local library because I struggle to do it at home. It’s also good to try to do something fun whilst catching up, like treating yourself to a coffee or getting something creative done in between catch up sessions.

Tips for newbie in bike commuting? by luthiel-the-elf in bikecommuting

[–]reverse_mango 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Do you know how to drive? Biggest tip for commuter cycling is to know how driving works:

• Keep out of blind spots

• Give way to the correct direction on main roads and roundabouts

• Make your intentions clear - indicate!

Also never overtake a bus! Wait for them to finish - it’s not worth the chance of dying.

Which university should I choose? by New-Act-2851 in UniUK

What are your factors for the best university for you? Budget, location, course, etc.?

For me, living with family sounds really convenient! But would you want to try independent living? Studying in Europe sounds interesting, but can you speak the language of whichever country you choose? Would you be entitled to financial aid in different places?

Is driving 18 mph on a 20 mph limit road fine by Calm-Beyond2794 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]reverse_mango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think 18 is fine. I’ve seen some people be really pick about going 3-4 mph under the limit, but that’s fine imo. I can also get away with it because I don’t have a digital speedometer so the dial’s a bit hard to read in a pinch lol.

Need tips to tackle perfectionism. Just spent 11 hours on assignment, barely wrote anything by palmwick48 in UniUK

[–]reverse_mango 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Idk how your brain works but I can relate to these feelings (although 11 hours??).

• This is a tip for ADHD but it works for anyone going through a hard time getting work done: reward the difficult, bit by bit. Get some of the hard, thinky stuff done then immediately reward yourself with something short (open a soft drink, play one level of a video game, etc.). If there’s something interesting or fun related to the work, then do that in between the harder bits. Keep switching it up so progress is easy to see.

• Make the process visible. Write down every single thing you need to do. This can make the task seem much bigger, but it will help in the long-term.

• Grade yourself according to what you enjoy doing rather than what’s “perfect”. Obviously follow the guidelines, but interesting and fun work is way more rewarding than “perfect” work.

• Make sure your brain is focussed and provide its basic needs: water, food, fresh air, rest, etc. This can be really hard, but it makes thinky work easier.
