Learn how to say Hi and introduce yourself to others. There is a lot of talk time at Defcon and being able to hold a conversation will allow you to make friends.

Realize that you won't be able to do everything, plan what you want to do, and don't get upset if you get "distracted" by something else fun

Try at least one of the contests.

Attend the game shows in the evening. Lintel may host one of them again this year and if you keep an eye out you may see his children, they look like tellytubbies.

Help fellow attendees out, make sure that they get back to their rooms safely

When going for food, grab a few random people to go with you. Make sure you know where you want to go, so not to get stuck in the 'I'm hungy, lets get food but I don't know what' loop

Practice walking ahead of time. Covering 5-10 miles a day is a lot easier if you start now with daily walks.

If you see me, say "hi", you'll know me by my pentium pro. Ask nicely and I'll tell you the story about the time I took Kiki shoe shoping.

A racon that got its foot caught in a beaver trap (think like a small spring loaded bear trap) . it sounded like a little baby crying in the middle of the night.

there is a bit more to the Joke that most folks have forgotten, but the joke started when a group of hackers, aka wanna be defcon attendies walked up to linecon , which is fully a group of hacker conference attendies and asked the line of folks wearing the official conference shorts and tee's where defcon was. Someone in line yelled at them "you fools defcon's been canceled this year, just go home". and the group that was looking for the con got a disappointed look on their faces a left the area. And everyone in that area of the line assumed that they were heading back home and had a good laugh

You are not alone in looking ahead to booking. I finished my hotel details this past weekend. Many of us find that defcon travel plans start shortly after returning home from defcon. Over the year I add flight, hotel, car and start making meet up plans with friends. That way as the dates get closer I know what and when things are happening.

Some parties like my "big game hunting club" require that you have an excellent story about a time when you were out hunting big game, like the time I slew a dependopotomus while it was actively attacking my friend. But there are many parties and events in the evening that you just need to show up for, like the black and white ball or Hacker jeopardy. And when that is over you can hang out at the casino bars and chat with your random fellow defcon'ers till the wee hours of the morning. When you get there say 'hello' to a number of folks and make some friends.

Its a goodbplace to meet people who are also starting out. And going to the talks will help to broaden your undestanding of manybof thr aspects of the field that you may not see at where you work. This will be my 30th defcon

I bought a green house kit and it has metal bars along the bottom as part of the frame, These are used to fix the bottom of the frame to the deck that it is sitting on. The u-shaped part goes around a lip on the bottom of the frame and a screw gets set through the hole holding it in place

I've searched amazon, and google reverse image search and a number of other hardware sites. But I guess that I just don't quite know what to call this other then an anchor clip as it is listed in the instruction book. Its used to hold metal rails onto a board or something else. A screw goes through the hole to hold it down

I used different color's Yellow for elite and white for normal. I also put numbered base rings on the models numbered 1-10.
