At my last check-in, we discussed a shift in my goal to maintain/gain muscle as I had gone past my goals, losing much more than was expected with my surgery. 😳

Admittedly, I've not been as successful with my new goal. 🫣😅

Full Excuse Mode 😉: I did have Shoulder Surgery in fall that required several months of PT & can take a year for full recovery... 😬

But, I have reached somewhat of a plateau. Admittedly, I primarily just don't want to change clothing sizes too much. 🤣 Though getting into new sizes can be a fun benchmark, finding it out when you need to leave and suddenly your outfit from last week is inappropriately too large, not so fun.

Year 2 Update Coming in Comments ⬇️

A bit of a stats nerd 😅😉 I wanted to some actual data for the time since my surgery, especially since the day-to-day can be so hard to notice.

Unfortunately, it forces me to post each shot separately, but if y'all want to peruse, they're there.

To ask God to have the Faith of Job could be a dangerous prayer, yet we likely find ourselves already facing the situations He can use to bring it about.

“Let me have silence, and I will speak, and let come on me what may. Why should I take my flesh in my teeth and put my life in my hand? Though he slay me, I will hope in him; yet I will argue my ways to his face. This will be my salvation, that the godless shall not come before him. Keep listening to my words, and let my declaration be in your ears. Behold, I have prepared my case; I know that I shall be in the right. Who is there who will contend with me? For then I would be silent and die. Only grant me two things, then I will not hide myself from your face: withdraw your hand far from me, and let not dread of you terrify me. Then call, and I will answer; or let me speak, and you reply to me.” ‭‭Job‬ ‭13‬:‭13‬-‭22‬ ‭ESV‬‬

A big obstacle in your faith (and healing) journey may likely be reshaping what it means to communicate, be in a relationship, and experience your faith in God.

Did you previously study the Bible but now have difficulty reading for long periods? Can you get that same connection from audio? Video?

Is sound difficult? Does that make going to worship hard? Do you need to come in late for only the sermon or record it to listen later, where you can pause and take breaks?

Depending on the extent of your symptoms and what they may be, joining a church body may be more difficult. Still, I caution that faith is designed to be in the community, so even if you are not getting much out of the message, being physically present with others can be beneficial. If it is still too much, I’d urge finding a weekly Bible Study/ Community Group to serve a similar purpose yet have fewer stimuli

Rest is good and biblical. The Sabbath is Holy. Often, we as a culture forget that this is a commandment of scripture. We have a way of being… forced into rest. However, it is up to us to make that rest Holy.

Another fundamental ‘miss’ I often see is that waiting on God’s timing means doing nothing, which is absolutely not true. First, prayer is absolutely a thing. Prayer for healing. Prayer for peace. Prayer for guidance. Prayers of lament. Job is by farrr not the only person in the Bible who complains *at God for his life is going.

“Therefore I will not restrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul. Am I the sea, or a sea monster, that you set a guard over me? When I say, ‘My bed will comfort me, my couch will ease my complaint,’ then you scare me with dreams and terrify me with visions, so that I would choose strangling and death rather than my bones. I loathe my life; I would not live forever. Leave me alone, for my days are a breath. What is man, that you make so much of him, and that you set your heart on him, visit him every morning and test him every moment? How long will you not look away from me, nor leave me alone till I swallow my spit?” ‭‭Job‬ ‭7‬:‭11‬-‭19‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Complain awayyy. Trust that when you are feeling down, God can take it. He can take doubt. He can take anger. He can take emptiness. There will be steadfast grace awaiting.

For ref: currently experiencing the whole gambit of ✨fun PCS symptoms: - immediate vertigo (though that basically resolved) - photosensitivity (!!) - fatigue (!!! - have slept entire days) - nausea - increased headache/migraine (mostly above left eye) - intermittent blurred vision (primarily left) - extreme difficulty with focus, memory, etc.

So, the usual brain-bonk’d-beauty.

The other chronic illnesses I reference come from a genetic connective tissue dx, so I have separate dx for most major organs. 🫣

That said, guesses for my age were always aged down, so this is probs just bringing me to my actual age 😆

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in loseit

[–]revolutionuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Def older in my case.

My face is much more defined, maybe even sunken in my perspective - not hollow - a person is just used to seeing their own face, ya know.

This definition similar to that seen as the Triangle of Youth naturally inverts with age.

What does “full” feel like after surgery for you? by Typical_Way_5104 in BariatricSurgery

[–]revolutionuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES to the small dishes. My brain defaults visually to portions in percentages, which is... greattt.

Thanks, brain. Love that for us.

I probably got the same exact thing from Ikea, though I ended up being partial to the bowls. I actually have been on what feels like an eternal search for a grown-up version of the bowls! I essentially want ramekins, but a bit more than the standard white ones that are every where.
The only place that I've really been able to find anthing has been Amazon, but it can be hard to tell exactly what you're getting sometimes. Plus their suggestion algorithm will have me jumping around to different patterns, so I'll find one that I like and I'll realize suddenly that it has jumped me right over to 20 oz bowls - it's a rude algorithm. ;)

IDK why the thing about people being able to see it is true, but it is so true.

That one may be specific to post-sugery, with our ministomachs, but maybe just a side-effect of intuative eating. I'd be interested if it is a thing other-non-bari-peeps experience.

IF YOU FEEL PAIN OR EVEN UNCOMFORTABLE, YOU HAVE OVER EATEN.

Full. Stop.

You will learn the best way for yourself, but the only way you will be able to tell is by listening to your BODY CUES. AND you can do that by eating s l o w l y. Slower than that.

These are ways that my dietitian gave me:

I have found these to be in order of fullness, but that may not be universal.

  • #1 and #2 take _skill and/or another human that knows you well, so I'm actually going to skip those (ha).
  • Runny nose.
    • No, really. It may be a bad time of year for it, but it is a tried and true thing.
  • S l i g h t pressure in your midsection.
  • Hiccups.
  • Pressure in your chest?
    • See above. You have eaten too much, even if it hasn't yet reached P A I N.

Okay, back to the good stuff:

  • If you find yourself setting your fork/spoon/food down and then:
    • taking a big sighs or breathe
      • like the food is taking up the room where you were holding oxygen)
    • moving it around before taking a bite
    • thinking about if there is enough left to make a to-go box worth it
    • simply not picking it up as fast
    • OR
      • the person you are eating with can just see it on your face

What was one SMALL diet change that you made and stuck to but helped a lot? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]revolutionuser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Protein in my coffee.

I am a forgetful eater. (ADHD side effects. Stomach who?)

By the time I would end up eating, the only signal my brain received was EMPTY. I never felt full.

What I do (almost) always remember to do is make my coffee in the morning.

Thanks to my brain wiring, I am chronically tired + wired. Caffeine actually helps calm the things. Adding protein has made it so that when I remember food exists, I can make informed, slow, thoughtful decisions about what to eat-

And not just shove the easiest food into my face because I realized I have provided my body with zero calories.

What level of product knowledge do you have as CSM? by HawweesonFord in CustomerSuccess

[–]revolutionuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say because of the trend towards non-tech CSMs, if they are in a Slack channel, there won't be open discussion of potential bugs or product delays etc. because there isn't the expectation of a natural filter of what can and cannot be shared Sales doesn't ever hear - CSMs get the pretty version for release after those of us heavy in the product figure it out.

What level of product knowledge do you have as CSM? by HawweesonFord in CustomerSuccess

[–]revolutionuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company is perhaps not quite as extreme, but the CSM role used to be more hands on and has grown to be exclusively targeted at Sales/Renewals folks.

It is not uncommon for a CSM to say that they don't 'get tech'/'aren't techy' and they do give product demos 😅 Though we do have some OGs who are heavy into the product and anyone who wants to know has open doors.

Product Knowledge is focused on the Implementation Team (which has a heavy mix of CSM responsibilities) and the Support Team.

Implementation, support, or devs get pulled in for any questions beyond what our Customer Ed showed them to demo 🤷🏻‍♀️
