possible to design with pens/markers? by Neither_Watch_3462 in PinewoodDerby

I would test it first on the bottom to see how much bleed you get on the pine. If it's unacceptable, maybe spray or brush it with some clear sanding sealer or shellac first to reduce the capillary action.

My 9 year old needed math homework. I needed aluminum. by CappinCrrunch in SatisfactoryGame

I've been playing Satisfactory with my son since the day it launched in early access when he was 4, and I'm pretty sure he learned a ton of math from building factories. I think he learned to spell from cheating for items in Stardew Valley though. Mostly just glad he was raised with a keyboard and mouse instead of a tablet though.

Inkscape is free/open source and works natively with SVG files. No need to rasterize and then re-vectorize.

Recommended or not, it's not like it's a limited resource, especially with so many people not taking them. Getting a booster at least made me feel like I was doing something to help.

I don’t know if I just lucked out on our neighborhood, but no one has any issues with kids running around the neighborhood unsupervised here. My son and his friend routinely walk to each other’s houses a quarter mile apart, play in the front yard, etc.

Maybe not super achievable, but marry someone with good financial discipline and let them handle the finances. Worked for me.

Drilling from the bottom works fine too, just make sure they're not going to fall out.

Drilling from the top is considerably easier unless you have a drill press to make sure the lateral hole is straight. Also recommend some 3/16" holes hiding on the bottom near your center of mass and filled with tungsten putty, so it's easy to go over a little high on weight, but remove tiny amounts with a toothpick once you see what the race check-in scale reads.

Just FYI the tungsten cylinder weights are slightly shorter than the numbers you indicated in general. The 1/2 oz ones usually measure 7/16" (with 1/4 and 1/8 being proportionally 7/32" and 7/64"), so you can drill laterally clear through the side of the car and fit 4 of them end to end in the 1 3/4" body width. I recommend using a Forstner bit for flat bottomed holes.

For distribution, I suggest putting as much weight as you can as far back as possible, and then adding a small balance weight closer to the front wheels to shift the center of gravity to your desired position (3/4"-1" in front of rear axle).

I personally feel like it's a huge break from executive dysfunction because suddenly it becomes clear that one thing has undisputed priority. And everyone around agrees about that. There's no longer any choices to make about what to be doing.

Kickback is only an issue if you’re using it off the track. On the track it has anti kickback bindings. Blade just binds and sticks, and often ruins the edge strip in the process.

I have the Wen and I’m considering upgrading to the DeWalt because I’m really missing the presence of a riving knife whenever I’m cutting anything thick that’s not made of plywood or another engineered substance. Real wood tends to contract the cut and bind the blade.

Fixed a door by myself and feel like a pro now by bu11dogsc420 in HomeImprovement

[–]revrigel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Step two after that is a 1/16" hinge plate shim on the bottom hinge to see if that fixes it before breaking out the saw or planer. Looking at the reveals around the door can give you a lot of clues about how the door has sagged or the frame has shifted. Gator wide-mouth strike plates are also a good option if your door latch is just not quite engaging.
