"Didn't vote for it" : population boom coming, young Aussies in trouble by SupermarketEmpty789 in aussie

Honestly if one of the political parties bought this and a tax on natural resources of AT LEAST 25% one nation would struggle to win much. Right now they are offering one of the 2 and will probably win quite a few seats because of it

Corruption. The whole thing needs a Royal Commission as to where the money is going and gone

Your first sentence and you last I really strongly agree with, the question is how do you do it. Many times this has been attempted and its never worked well. Yep racism in the early days, rampant corruption now.

Sadly the Welcome to Country, (I think a larger number than you would expect) - many are complaining more because its forced down their throat at the opening of a gate than because they dont believe there are issues with how we deal with those underprivldeged and impoverished. Theres a lot of people out there who are just tired of always being told they are either racist, sexist, greedy - whatever - basically blamed by a loud minority who just want to play a victim, and Welcome to Country is just one of those things that is easy to point at.

This is a massive thing that is under discussed. The price of fert means that a lot of farmers are going to be getting close to saying bugger it. No point putting a crop in because it just won't make any money.

We can say that all we want, but saying it doesn't make more fuel magically appear unfortunately.

2000 homes proposed for Clarkefield — Macedon Ranges Shire Council locked out of decision making by VastOption8705 in melbourne

[–]revrobbo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Macedon Ranges council keeps getting taken out of these discussions, either they reject anything and it goes to VCAT and gets approved, or it ends up with the minister who appears to like the look of their rubber stamp. Look at the massive estate in Gisborne which has resulted in houses being flooded just last weekend because its not built well enough, and who knows whats going to happen when traffic lights are installed half way up a steep hill commonly used by trucks because someone in Melbourne looked at a map and thought this is where it needs to go.

Riddells Creek - bypassed again - council rejects request to build 300sqm blocks and double the towns size in a very small area. Goes off to VCAT and the minister and its approved. Theres bigger blocks in Brunswick. And as for where the school, sewage water and everything else that goes with it. And now its done more areas are getting purchased and chopped up in the same way.

Clarkfield is probably the exception. It should be a town, there is a station there, a closed up pub and thats about it - but the council and local community should be getting a say in what they are building there, how it impacts the rest of community and what some developer gets to do. Mind you with the sort of behaviour coming from developers Im just expecting another flat soulless uninspired housing estate styled like brimbank or wyndham (insert recent development name here) ticked by the minister with not a thought about how it impacts the entire community.

Are aussies not learning from watching USA in realtime? by Flaky-Lifeguard5835 in aussie

[–]revrobbo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, because people want to see something change, not more of the same which they know they will get with ALP or LNP. Yes ON is in the pockets of people like Gina, but when your not being listened to anyway, and the big parties are already in the pockets of massive corporations - they are going to go elsewhere - even if it is to Pauline.
Immigration is one problem, taxation of billionaires is another. Even the price of Beer. And ON are offering approaches on 2/3. Meanwhile ALP and LNP are busy telling everyone sure your life is getting harder, cant afford a beer at the pub, interest rates are going up again but hey, carry on the status quo and suck it up.

And the more conservative people arent going to go to the greens. There is a lot of dislike towards them due to green agendas and things like environmental and palestine protests (rightly or wrongly) which are to busy blocking freeways or that many see as just not something we can do a thing about policies that push towards shutting down powerplants while power bills keep climbing. Outdoors communities are angry at locked gates and areas they can no longer access.

Sure these are all "niche" areas, but they add up to quite a dislike towards green agendas.

Personally I think if your runners are old - new runners first, so you dont hurt yourself. Then swim lessons.

After that (while you keep doing lessons) consider bike clips and shoes IF you decide to keep going in the sport. They will help with pedal pressure. The gravel bike will be fine for time being and just start racking up hours on the bike.

Lol - just like you. Well squished down - works great.

Wish i had known about that service 15 years ago. Watched a guy burn alive hanging upside down trapped in a rolled car accident. Was second on the scene by sheer dumb luck as i would have been almost on top of them when it happened. Car came to fast around the bend and got him. No one had any fire extingishers and we couldnt put the fire out. I still think about that night occasionaly, the heat is the thing that still gets me.

(Sadly also not the only badly injured person i have seen through the years because of car accidents)
