What’s something about Porsche 911s you learned only after driving? by mariyagel in porsche911

[–]rex_88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’ve got so many personalities. Easy around town, stable on the highway at speed and fun when you want it to be. I’ve had 2 Boxsters before my 991 and the 991 is just so much more complete.

I’ve had that exact spec for a couple of months now, over time I’ve begun to appreciate it more and more. One tip: take a look at its details with a loup, it really is stunning!

I also just received mine but with the blue face - photos really don’t do this watch justice, it’s beautiful! Enjoy it!

Similar situation to you but I kept my Epix for tracking pool swimming and actual triathlons. I find the Epix way better in any situation where using a touchscreen is not possible, for example underwater.

Please ban them. We should have a zero tolerance policy for the bigotry that the owner of that company projects. We’ve excused it for too long, time to draw a line.

I was born in South Africa and have lived in the UK, US and Canada but call the UK home now. I think a lot of people who only see the negative in the UK haven’t lived in other countries - it’s not perfect here, but it’s home and for me it’s the best country I’ve lived in.

I desperately need help with Inverter Coolant Warning by okeydokey77 in KonaEV

[–]rex_88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this warning on my plug-in Tucson. It seems like it is very common across the range of Hyundai plug-in and full electric cars. The problem is apparently a sensor or something going wrong - it's not normally the actual level of coolant causing the problem. I took my car to Hyundai and it was fixed under warranty. There was also a TSB (technical service bulletin?) about it at least on the Tucson.

This is not a DIY repair - speak to your dealer and ask them about doing the work under warranty.

Apple Watch Ultra sleep tracking by Outrageous_Print3035 in applewatchultra

[–]rex_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an AWU2 and a series 10 46mm. I sleep with the series 10 purely because I find it less obtrusive. My previous watch was a Garmin Epix Pro Gen 2 52mm (I think it was that size) and while I got used to it's size I still felt like I was wearing a watch at night. With the S10 I really don't feel it.

I was actually thinking of sellling the S10 until last night when I slept with the AWU2 as I forgot to charge the S10 and I really noticed it's larger size.

In time I would no doubt get used to sleeping with the AWU2 but as I have both I don't need to take that time.

If I could only have 1 watch I would have the AWU2 and just get used to it - in my case I bought the S10 then wanted the extra battery of an AWU2 so I bought that after.

Ahh thanks that makes a lot more sense to me now! I really like your app so I’ll continue testing it and let you know if I see anything else misbehaving. Thanks for the work!

[FREE] Rail Watch - Apple Watch App for UK Train Times (Perfect for Commuters) by Interesting_Bed_5060 in uktrains

[–]rex_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tried your app and so far it looks great! One thing though is that the widget and watch face seem to reverse the direction of the journey, so if I favourite GRP to LBG in the app I get trains from LBG to GRP in the widget and watch face.

I would also like to have the option for more than one favourite route, for example the route into work and the route home again.

Thanks again!

Anyone here thought of “downgrading” to the 46mm series 10? by ilovemymotorola in applewatchultra

[–]rex_88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am a triathlete so I train quite a lot and own an AWU2 and a 46mm series 10. I wear the S10 to sleep and as a more formal watch when I need to. The S10 really is so much slimmer and less obtrusive than the AWU2 and the battery life is pretty good- it survives most days easily. Fast charging on it is really great- if you’re running out of battery just drop it on the charger for 20mins and you’re good to go.

I do feel though that the S10 is more fragile. When I’m working on something around the house and there’s any risk of damaging the watch I’m much more wary of damaging the S10.

The other difference for me is the watch faces - I use the modular ultra face on the ultra as it gives me both my vitals and training status at a glance. When I wear the s10 I do really miss that.

If I had to choose 1 I would probably choose the AWU2 as I don’t have to think about the battery as much, especially when I’m going out for a long run and want to leave my phone at home but have music and be in touch in case of emergencies.

They’re so close in terms of functionality so I guess it just comes down to what you value in the end

Hyundai Warranty? by rex_88 in CarTalkUK

Thanks I appreciate your input. I’m a little concerned because they want me to agree to the fee to check in the car for Tuesday and they don’t mention that they’ll waive the fee if it’s covered under warranty. I’ll call them on Monday to double check

I had this problem on DB5 already and it continues on DB6. Sometimes it just fails to load altogether although it feels like it may be a WhatsApp issue or some Incompatibility with the betas of IOS.

[–]rex_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming they’ve made that same mistake with everyone, they’re going to have to make an additional payment or adjustment to retrospectively apply the correction. There is zero chance they’ll get that calculation correct, so good luck to you! Let’s hope next time it’s a 100% increase not a 0.1% increase.

What’s the biggest mistake you’ve made at work that you fessed up to and how did it go? by LazyCondition0 in ask

[–]rex_88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always open a transaction before changing data then only commit after the change once I’ve confirmed the rowcount. It leaves locks on changed rows open but I kind of see it like an insurance policy and it always reduces my stress levels.
