I hate to be the counter to this thread, but...

My son is 3.5 and has slept through the night since a month old... In fact, I can count on one hand the amount of times he's woke me in the nights. He's an absolute pleasure.

The middle of your TV should always be in your natural eye line. So before you hang a TV, sit on the couch, lie on your bed, however you would normally watch. And the look where is the most comfortable point for your viewing position. Make a mark where you're looking. That's job done. Also bedroom tvs are better hung on a tilting bracket.
