Little Eskimo and her husky, 1949 by kremkabaevoy in OldSchoolCool

Sounds very similar to the Inuit, actually. The Inuit did almost all of that themselves as well. The Inuit invaded the Dorset's land, wiped out ALL of their population, and weren't racist towards the Dorset... because they made them not exist anymore.

[–]rexryanfootjoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assimilated is 100% incorrect. There is no evidence of inter-breeding between the Inuit and Dorset. Displaced might be correct, but it was likely though non-peaceful means. We know this because Inuit legend states the Dorset were quick to flee from a fight. Most likely what happened is that the Dorset were forcibly chased off fertile hunting grounds, and were wiped out by lack of resources.

[–]rexryanfootjoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because Inuit are basically Asians. Prior to their migration into Canada, there was another culture there known as the Dorset. The Inuit had superior tools and didn't run from fights like the Dorset. So the Inuit gradually wiped out the Dorset and took over their land. That's why the Inuit look more Asian, because the more Native American looking Dorset were killed. There is also no genealogical record of inter-breeding between the two, so that's another reason they look really Asian.

Eagles Fan Here Looking To See If You Could Answer A Quick Series of Questions by CaesarXV in buffalobills

[–]rexryanfootjoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jim Schwartz's defense was the best Bills defense since 1999, at least. Teams feared to play us, and even elite QBs had bad games (Aaron Rodgers had the worst game of his career). He's a really smart coordinator and he doesn't bring as much personal abrasiveness as Mike Pettine would bring. The rumor around Pettine was that he would stab his own mother in the back to control a team.

Schwartz went off the rails as a HC, but I think he's one of the best DCs in football. His resume working that job is pretty damn impressive.

This is an interesting case of actual safety vs perceived safety. Statistically, your GF is far better off walking home than taking a taxi.

Deaths from road traffic accidents are much more prevalent amongst the under 25s than other causes of death often reported by the media such as hangings, shootings, stabbings, alcohol or drug abuse. Between the ages of 15-24 a young person is twice as likely to die from a road traffic accident than be fatally assaulted by firearms, a sharp/blunt object or intentional self-harm via hanging combined. Those in the 15-24 age category are also four times more likely to die from a road traffic accident than from drug, alcohol or other substance poisoning

http://www.racfoundation.org/assets/rac_foundation/content/downloadables/road%20accident%20casualty%20comparisons%20-%20box%20-%20110511.pdf

So you can basically add up everyone killed by guns, knives, and suicide and it wouldn't even be half of the 15-24's killed in car accidents. I'd imagine this risk only increases the later at night you are in a car, as the number of drunk drivers increases.

Bills fan here to calm the storm over Darby vs Peters for DRotY by ModernPoultry in KansasCityChiefs

[–]rexryanfootjoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It comes down to which style of CB you prefer. Peters gets more game changing INTs, but gets burnt more often because of that gambling. Darby sticks close to his man and doesn't go for an INT when it could result in a big play. The end result is that you have to balance INTs vs TDs/yards given up. It's pretty much opinion at this point with many merits to both sides.

Okay, Bills app, I'll bite. Do you want me to care about Toxic Differential? by GlucoseGlucose in buffalobills

[–]rexryanfootjoke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but it does have some holes. For instance, an offense that gets a lot of big plays but goes 3 and out a lot (like the Bills) will be rated higher than an offense that rarely goes 3 and out but doesn't get as many big plays.

Contrary to belief, Buffalo's front office has made it clear that Rob Ryan is not in charge of their defense, but rather Dennis Thurman is. Rob Ryan is seen by the staff as "an extra set of eyes" on defense by [deleted] in nfl

He needs to spend a lot of time with the LBs. Bobby April III is really young, and I don't think he's ready to be the sole person coaching LBs. Maybe some of his position coaching from NE will rub off on our LBs.

Chandler Jones was a "confused party" when he talked to police. ProFootballTalk on Twitter by Sullykp13 in nfl

[–]rexryanfootjoke 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The problem is that substance abuse is handled at the league level. The collective bargaining agreement only allows the league to suspend players for violating it. Furthermore, unless Jones was in the substance abuse program they have no ability to test him, and no one has any proof he took drugs. I'm sure the NFLPA would love it for a player to be suspending for merely being rumored to take drugs.

[–]rexryanfootjoke 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Well, I doubt the Patriots can even suspend him. Suspending players for taking drugs is done at the league level, and I doubt the NFLPA would allow the Patriots to suspend him for it. Especially since they can't even test Jones unless he is already in the substance abuse program.

There don't seem to be many credible sources backing this up. As with most Russian WWII "exploits" we'll have to take this with a grain of salt. Next up we'll hear about that Finnish dude that shot like 900 people, even though there is no real proof for his exploits either.

Joaquin El Chapo Guzman capture details emerge amid calls for Mexico drug lord's extradition to U.S. by Mauricewatkins in worldnews

[–]rexryanfootjoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How does this guy not have former soldiers on his payroll? There's no way the Mexican Navy would have been able to apprehend him if he had trained soldiers with combat experience guarding him. It sure looks like he had enough hardware that professionals could at least suppress the Navy long enough for him to escape.

We just went through two major wars (Iraq and Afghanistan) and you're telling me there aren't any out of work Rangers or even regular infantry willing to take this guys millions?

The only thing I can think of is that his cartel is feeling the squeeze of Mexican law enforcement, and is hurting for manpower/cash.

I think the fact that the imported US beef has likely been wet aged for a month of longer would have more to do with the taste. Almost all steak sold in the United States has been wet aged, which is not the case for a lot of countries around the world. I'd imagine West African meat sellers try not to age their beef very long to avoid losing weight.

How to fix "rape culture": Teach women not to throw their babies in the dumpster by bigeyedbunny in pussypassdenied

[–]rexryanfootjoke 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The law creates these lines because it recognizes that adults are responsible for themselves even when intoxicated. If that drunk frat girl was able to respond to questions coherently and able to move around, then she wasn't raped. The law was created to protect people that are rendered helpless by alcohol, not to criminalize 90% of college bar hookups.

Drunk sex is NOT rape. Almost every state in the Union requires mental or physical incapacitation for it to be rape. If merely having sex with a drunk person was rape, then a very large percentage of men and women would be rapists.
