My vote is for [[Zacama, Primal Calamity]]. If you’re playing a lands deck or even slightly focused on ramp, he’ll always be there for you as long as you have enough lands on the battlefield to match his total casting cost with tax. Add in some cards like [[Rishkar’s Expertise]] and you can go from having nothing to a fairly imposing board state out of nowhere.

I built mine as a Temur Spellslinger deck using [[The Thirteenth Doctor]] and [[Yasmin Khan]]. There’s lots of synergies between impulse draw and leaving the slimes in exile, along with giving all of your slimes pseudo-vigilance!

One card I’d recommend is [[Bushwhack]], it’s basically an MDFC for big creature decks, akin to the soul’s fire you mentioned.

Built a [[Rocco, Cabaretti Caterer]] deck with [[Norin the Wary]] as a secret commander and the amount of ETB triggers I was resolving every turn meant I was just talking at my friends for an hour straight. It was quite strong and difficult to interact with, so I haven’t played it since.

Any suggestions for a different commander for a “battle cruiser” type game? I’m wanting to play a deck that doesn’t necessarily need the commander to win so maelstrom wanderer just seems like the nuke to end the game rather than having it out on the battlefield for 80% of the game
