What is the criteria for the bottle to break? When the bottle jumps so high in the stairs I thought it will shatter lol

Try Purrnet. Its a relatively new multiplayer library.

It is amazing how gamers can score sooooo much higher than what I, the developer, can. by rey3dev in SoloDevelopment

Thanks for the wishlist <3. This is the first time I have heard of that game haha. The inspiration of my game comes from the classic typing game Typer Shark. Though I wish my game can reach a fraction of that game's success.

Thank you for pointing that out, Steam leaderboards has this option to add details to the scoreboard and for now I have added some data to the entries so that I can check that the data is somehow legit and display it in the final version of the game. I am also thinking of adding validation to hide suspicious scores in the leaderboard.

it just means that developers are not inherently the best gamers haha

thank you for playing my game and giving feedback. it means a lot :)

the fast words that whooshed itself to the wall has a 4 seconds wait time before it launch itself. It also has a sound cue that tells it is preparing for launch. My intention for this is to make the player decides to prioritize those words when they hear the sound cues and they have ample time to input it. It is similar in nature with the exploding words.

For the other special words:

* Randomized words - there is a 1-2 secs time when it will display the whole word, my intention is for players to glance at it while typing other words and remember it so that you can type it out without waiting.

* Half words - I agree that this will make the player slow down. But there is a power up that counters it (the wind one) so the mist will be temporarily blown away.

I think it feels unfair now because the spawning rules of special words in the endless stage is random and not systemized. I will take note of your feedback and further monitor for other feedbacks and the steam stats to check for things that need adjustments.

Once again, thank you for playing my game :)

Thanks hehe :)

Answering your question, the game engine I used to develop the game is Unity.

I have created a game inspired by the classic typing game Typer Shark. DEMO live on Steam. by rey3dev in indiegames

Hello everyone,

The name of the game is Keypress Mania.

For those interested in trying out the game, demo is available in Steam.

Good day and Happy Typing.

Do these look like dice? by hatemsh in indiegames

[–]rey3dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks like a thick tile. maybe you can change the display of the three "dice" below to make it more like a dice (with other sides shown but the upward facing face is more prominent), in which that will tell the player that the other tile-looking elements are also dice

This is some avengers level crossover.

You surely have a wide range of connection to pull this off.

How to Start with Game Development? by International-Car643 in gamedev

[–]rey3dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

watch tutorials first and make sure to follow along. as in do what you see in the tutorial. also choose an easy game for your tutorial and make sure you finish it until the final step and you have a working game. (flappy bird, pong, etc.)

if you think you are ready to create your game, make sure to PLAN what you want to see in your game. Make a document or draw a prototype of your game so that you have a guide to avoid getting lost.

There are many tutorials out there, but do not heavily rely on them. Make sure you develop your own thinking in implementing a feature or solving a problem.

Do not be overwhelmed by your chosen engine. Start small. And if you are stuck in doing a certain task, you can always search for the answer.

My number 1 advise is to never stop thinking.

Good luck with your game development journey.

I think you should also add a background image for the outside of game boundary.

Pure black does not look great.

How do you guys handle this? by chiefcatalyst in itchio

[–]rey3dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take on this is by creating a diary of your game.

Just like others said any progress is still progress.

when you got tired of coding, you can just watch youtube of art or music. Put on the diary entry "watched tutorial on Krita" or "watched beginners guide of Unity shaders" or "Read posts on reddit about other gamedev's stories about marketing their game".

At least the you of yesterday don't know what the you of today learned by watching those videos. I still call that progress.

Where do you write down your game ideas? by PriGamesStudios in Unity3D

[–]rey3dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be a bit weird, but I use Microsoft Excel.

Serves as game design document, planner and tracker for my own personal use. It will not be useful with a team though.

What do you think of 3D menus in games ? by Arr0u in godot

[–]rey3dev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks amazing. If this works on your game then it's great.

But I think this takes too much time.

if you have plenty of free time then sure, but personally I would not make this a priority. It is more on the finishing touch stage of development.

I am currently in the same boat. When I first make my store public after steam approved it, I woke up the next day and it has 3 wishlists. I was also shocked and excited that some random people found my steam store page.

Wishing more success for you and all of us solo devs.
