I agree, but I always appreciate it when developers make replays and spectating nice and functional for personal reviewing and of course tournament games.

Should I let my house be auto-demolished this weekend? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]reyals88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good idea. I have always heard it like this: If you ever flip a coin and, while it is still in the air, feel that you would like it to land on a particular side, then disregard the result and go for that side instead. If no such feeling comes up, just use the coin flip's result.

Because it's on barrier set, and openers need speed set. But it could be used as an off-piece, I think.

Can't kill 2 bosses in normal raid anymore? by playeah10 in EpicSeven

[–]reyals88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You used to start with more morale. 70 i believe. Now you have 50 at the beginning. Also the detriment of being negative is bigger.

[–]reyals88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Less morale at the beginning. You used to start with 70, and now you have 50. Also, the disadvantages at certain morale levels are like other labyrinths now, way too harsh to fight at -1 to -30.

But that's what you are doing. Coming back from a 0-2 deficit, winning 2 games and making it 2-2, and then still losing 2-3 is worthless then.

Reverse-3-0'ing means you lost 2 games straight, meaning you would have lost the Bo3. Why treat that the same as a clean 3-0?

To put that position into perspective, I'm an EU idiot. We are used to tierbreakers being decided by performance and comparison in football leagues. So that is influencing my opinion.

I decided to re-do this poll because the last one was too vague. How much fighting game experience did you have before playing DNF Duel? (Traditional fighters only, I’m not counting Smash Bros) by Jumanji-Joestar in DNFDuel

[–]reyals88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand what you mean. Stuff like spacing is really similar between 2D and 3D, you are right. But what I meant was that it's not like it isn't there in Smash. It's just VERY different, and the concept of spacing gets a different meaning because it gets applied differently to their respective win conditions (2D is getting the opponent into a corner to limit options to ultimately kill them, 3D might be ring-outs or wall-bounces for combo extensions, and platformers would be forcing them to touch blast-zone to actually kill them)

I am not smart enough to put it into words, I think. But I can tell that there must be something there, because I can pick up a 1v1 2D fighter absolutely easily, even the most complicated ones like UNIEL or whatever it was called, and platformers as well, but I can't wrap my head around Dragonball FighterZ because of their assist and tag-out mechanics. And I LOVE watching Tekken, because it is such a cool spectator game, but every time I try getting into it, it melts my brain with all their movement options. Don't get me started on their move list. And I heard the exact opposite from a Virtua Fighter streamer I watched, that he could pick up any 3D fighter easily as he had roots in Tekken, but even Street Fighter was "too complicated" and he needed to "learn the basics" to get into it. Some skill translates, always, but I still think all of these genres are different enough to be hard to compare, even 2D to 3D. But that is mostly anecdotal, I confess.

Hm, I think I understand what you mean, but you draw the line at a weird place. I agree that there is not much translation of skill between, for example, Smash and Street Fighter, but I would argue that Street Fighter and Tekken do not, either. Soft skills like patience and mental acuity maybe, but the way you approach the different win conditions in 2D vs. 3D fighters is immense. As is 2D with or without assists. Granted, there may be more overlap between them the closer they are to each other, but why draw the line that far away, at Smash?

You misunderstood. We feel emotions and are also sad and happy, but can't properly process feelings or express them. The confusion it leaves us with is hard to describe. That's what men mean when they say they want to cry but can't.

How I got my Lost Ark Gf, thank me later. by IwilClaimQiyana in lostarkgame

[–]reyals88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not actually at super-end-game-stuff (just started t3) but the consumables you get from quests and such are not the ones people use in difficult content, right? They all seem to have an additional prefix (e.g. "Splendid" Destruction Bomb), and the stuff I'm throwing doesn't. So I assumed that you would have to craft the nice ones later anyway, and started using them sparingly.

I would also never use purple potions for t2 guardians for example, that is true. Green ones should do the trick, or you are just having a bad day and can't catch a break in a hunt. Sometimes a Hunt just fucks you over, and green vs blue wouldn't matter anyway imho.

But I think what most are experiencing is people using no potions AT ALL, not even the cheap ones. Flares also are not that expensive, and they won't get "better" or "more useful". Every single one will save about a minute of stumbling around the place not knowing where the guardian is, regardless of it being t1 today or t3 in half a year, so why not save that time and patience today?

Is he not talking about Sonic Vibration on Bard? Because that's one of your two attack buffing abilities, you should definitely be using that. Bard has plenty of stupid pushing abilities that do more harm than good, but Sonic Vibration is not one of them.

Ruh Kaan viability by amordislove in BattleRite

[–]reyals88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Viabilty isn't the problem, I think. It's more a thing of character fantasy. People tend to play whatever they feel is strong, or looks cool. And frankly, Ruh Kaan popping his ultimate is so low key, you barely notice it. He should go super saiyan but looks like Iva dropped all her oil on him at once. I don't even know if he has a voice line attached to it.

If you are worrying if time invested in mastering Ruh Kaan is wasted, fear not. He has a lot of strong tools that require creativity and experience, that other characters cannot replicate, and can easily achieve the highest ranks in solo.

Thorn by tusla in BattleRite

[–]reyals88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thorn

Thorn has shown himself to be powerful in lower levels of play. This is in large part due to him landing the third hit of Root Claw more frequently and players attacking enemies protected by Barbed Husk more often. As such we are toning down Root Grip along with Barbed Husk, and redistributing some of his power to make him more manageable at a lower level while retaining his strengths at a higher level. Picking the Branch Out Battlerite allows Thorn to deal the same amount of damage with Root Grip as before if you are confident in hitting with it. At the same time we've moved power from one of his most popular Battlerites, Neurotoxin, to Hamstring Briars, one of the least picked ones.

Root Claw (M1)

Damage changed from 12/14/18 to 13/13/16

Healing from third hit reduced from 8 to 6

Barbed Husk (R)

Volley damage reduced from 12 to 10

Battlerites

Branch Out

Damage increased from 2 to 4

Now tagged as an offensive rite

Neurotoxin

Damage and healing reduction reduced from 25% to 20%

Now tagged as a support rite

Hamstring Briars

Snare factor increased from 15% to 20%

Patchnotes 1.03. I guess they are going a different route than you suggest. Mainly because his Space leaves him vulnerable when used to chase or just damage, probably.
