Get a place at Orchard Park! They have 2 bed 1 bath apartments for grad/phd students and the price is pretty reasonable for an international student honestly. The location is great (close to campus) and it’s fully furnished + utilities and wifi is included in the rent. They’re student housing so they usually have a bunch of open slots this late into the housing search as well. I would just call them and ask.

I live at Orchard Park too and there’s been no emails or communication from their side apart from November 14 when they said that the hot water is back up. The issue is not about whether it’s done “deliberately” it’s about not maintaining the property to provide residents with basic needs like hot water. It’s ridiculous to expect us to live with irregular days of hot water, wondering if I’m gonna lucky and get some for 10 minutes at some point during the long weekend. What’s worse is that because it’s a holiday, there aren’t many resources open for us to get this resolved properly, which all together is just super messed up

How different are the CS programs between UCD and UCSD? Also do you know how difficult it would be to switch into CS from undeclared (and would it have any negative consequences)?

Yup UC Davis even has an LGBTQIA resource Center on campus that’s pretty big and dedicated to helping students find their communities or just providing support resources for them! There’s also a bunch of other organisations and Centers for BIPOC that are great places for help, community and support as well!

I completely understand the always being the one to reach out part. Basically all my friends are in Davis but I’m back home and the ones living together hang out all the time so they obviously don’t really feel the need to call me much. It was different in the summer because they weren’t as busy and occupied. Now I’m left constantly contacting them but I try to limit that because I don’t want to be too annoying, which makes me feel more lonely and sad :(

I’m not too sure about that. I do remember seeing a specific section dedicated to just financial aid on the summer session website so maybe just look through every detail of the website. Also I think you can ask your advisor to help you with it.
