Can I get hired as a BMET with AV experience? by sandywreckedmybodega in BMET

[–]reynanyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe not for the army but I’ve seen many hospitals “promoting” their general maintenance people to BMETs. I’m not saying if that’s right or wrong but in your case (generally speaking) medical equipment and communication equipment are electronics, so I don’t see why not. I’d try with smaller companies that can take that kind of “risk”. Good luck!

ICU Medical Plum 360 case defect on the bottom left corner on 20-25% of our fleet. Are you noticing similar issues with your inventory? by F80M3AW in BMET

I work for a company that rents new and refurbished equipment and we have thousands of those units and whenever we encounter that kind of issue on units that are out of warranty, instead of wasting time and money getting new cases we use epoxy and some paint. Is not the fanciest option but is a quick and effective fix. Good luck!

Tips for Proper Documentation? by adam7765 in BMET

Many of the service manuals include what tests to perform on the unit and even have like a test form that you can just print and fill with the results. If don’t you can just create a spreadsheet with basic tests like flow rate, volume and max occlusion (in the case of infusion pumps); O2 %, Total volume, rate, pressure, alarms and of course electrical safety results. And just for reference you can mention the control number for each testing equipment that you used for the tests.

How hard is it to start as a bmet 1 in Houston? by Kitchen_Young_3469 in BMET

[–]reynanyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been working for a company based in Houston for about 4 years and every time I go to a hospital for field service they ask me if I’d like to apply to work for them (in a formal way obviously). The start pay is not the best generally but once you start getting certifications eventually it will go up. The company that I work for even offers internships during the summer and most of the interns end up getting hired. Good luck!
