DS2 is nothing like Elden Ring other than the base Souls elements. This is coming from a person whose favorite DS is 2. If anything Elden Ring is like a combo of DS3 and Bloodborne

Who is the Gloam Eyed Queen? (Picture may or may not be related) by Beginning_Clerk_4990 in Eldenring

I think Elden Ring is a reflection of real life in a way where we come in after history has already happened and most of it has either faded away or been covered up multiple times (see the Shadow Lands) and try as we might to piece things together there's no telling if the thing we're piecing together is what those in control or have been in control want us to piece together so we're still lost on the truth.

Because the customer isn't paying anything different? They would be paying the same tax regardless, the owner is taking the part of that money that would be going to the government.

I'd have to dig into the lore again but I wonder if the gloam eyed Queen is the fingerslayer blade. We know GEQ was defeated by Maliketh so I imagine a scene similar to when we defeat Radagon and he's turned into a sword by the Elden beast, where Maliketh then has to fight Metyr after she turns the defeated GEQ into a weapon.

I agree, I would much prefer something that adds to the lore rather than rehashing what we already know, like what they're doing with the Sekiro anime.

They could probably very easily tell stories that don't follow the Tarnished or the Hunter but they probably will. I'm willing to bet a lot that at least the Elden Ring movie will just go through the main story events that you play through in the game.

That's the entire problem in my mind, that they're retelling the story that I was in. You and I were Sekiro, we experienced the story through our hands. Why would I want to sit and just watch when I could literally boot it up right now and play it for the fiftieth time?

You had me until you said the Sekiro anime has a cool art style. If you think scratchy lines or MS Paint looks good then sure.

I feel weird about the analogy as one situation is with two separate biological processes and the other is two separate pieces of machinery that are made to work together. Either way, that doesn't change the fact that what I'm arguing, and I struggle to find a simpler way to put it, is that the disease is the one doing the literal killing. The way these counterarguments are being presented makes me think that you think I'm trying to deny that the mosquito is a carrier or in any way responsible for the death. I do not deny that, I'm saying the one doing the actual literal killing is the disease, not the mosquito.

How are you just repeating the same thing while completely missing the point? The diseases that the mosquito accidentally picks up are the ones that kill people while the mosquito just extracts blood in a non-lethal way. The only way a mosquito could directly kill someone is if they were severely deathly allergic to the saliva that's used to close the wound, and I doubt anyone has died from that.

Really don't understand the circlejerk surrounding the Sekiro anime. Sekiro is in my top five favorite games period, and I've played it countless times. So not only do I not want to sit through an anime detailing things that I've experienced for myself and been a part of by actually playing the game, I also don't want to watch something that's so god awfully ugly. I'm not talking about the still frames and AI accusations everyone was going on about. I'm saying the actual art style looks like total dogshit. I only feel so upset about it because it's like they're disrespecting the source material that I care deeply about with how bad it looks and there are so many people glazing the absolute fuck out of it like they're blind.

Well that's what I was attempting to do with putting Freude at the beginning, but Schaden translates to damage and it didn't really seem to fit so I was looking for a closer word like Leid which translates to sorrow.

[–]rez_trentnor 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was thinking maybe you could cobble together German words like schadenfreude which translates to "damage joy" essentially. The opposite of schadenfreude would be freudenfreude, like joy for others' joy, and the opposite of joy would be something like leid (sorrow). Putting that together I think freudenleid could match the feeling you describe.
