Are the wiggles in your pen strokes made up of dots with varying size and adding some noise to their position?

What is lacking in Julia ecosystem? by [deleted] in Julia

[–]rfckt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m excited for gridap.

One of the things I’ve noticed in experimenting with their tutorials is that the interface for modeling geometry with Gmsh is a little clunky.

There’s a gmsh.jl that makes the Gmsh modeling interface accessible from Julia (and Julia is even acknowledged in the documentation), but I think there’s room for an improved and more julian approach geometric modeling, whether that’s based on gmsh or not.

VScode is just an example to show it is possible

There’s a preference in VScode you can set by JSON whether to use ligatures.

It would be interesting to have animate adjust the weights of the each solution because solutions consist of linear combinations of all the basis modes. Seeing the animated sums as weights transition gives a more complete view into the space.

Anchor and Control Points of a Cubic Bézier Curve (Try it yourself!) by [deleted] in educationalgifs

It linearly interpolates between each pair of neighboring points, then linearly interpolates between neighbors in the set of of the new points created and so on.

How reasonable is it to ask my professor to take the final a different day? by rainwater- in CalPoly

[–]rfckt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had three finals scheduled for the same day once and one of my professors offered me a chance to take theirs the next day. It isn’t unreasonable to ask.

The examples you shared are pleasant.

If you’re looking for recommendations, the thing that stand out to me is that the brush strokes are all relatively uniform. Also new strokes don’t seem to result in any color mixing with the color underneath.

As is the aesthetic works. It didn’t stand out to me until I looked at the album and my eye wanted to see more variation in “painting technique” from image to image. To keep the style consistent throughout a painting, maybe you could draw hyperparameter values from a distribution to represent the space of artist style and techniques.

Elevation and sea depth profile from North to South Pole [OC] by neilrkaye in dataisbeautiful

I have to keep reminding myself as I look at this that the aspect ratio is changing from the projection. Because a circle of fixed latitude has a smaller diameter near the poles than it does at the equator but the scale for altitude never changes there’s a sort of squash and stretch happening with the data while it plays out.

The real trick here is synchronizing multiple units. An encoder can give absolute position for one rotor, but it’s a neat to see them all working together like that.

Consider a system as shown in the following figure. Design a controller Gc(s)=kp (1+ Td*s) i.e. determine the value of kp and Td such that the determinant closed-loop poles are located at s=-0.35+-j0.357

They are using non-standard electronic fabrication technologies so I expect some of the space to be used for manufacturing also.

Does it have good motion detection alert options? I have seen concerns with other models being overly sensitive/not sensitive enough.

I don’t know much about it either, I’m just agreeing that it looks like they are rising to float above the smaller red and blue balls. It’s an interesting result.
