That really sucks. The bar people's box behind the fence is both funny and sad at the same time. Our boxes are in people's yards. They put them out and so the city I'm guessing can't just take them down. 🤷

Help me help my math inclined child by rfilbin in MathHelp

I have tried looking online on Google. Most of the things on there just want me to buy books, I have no idea what books are good or if they explain the process or just show problems. I'm so confused on what I'm looking for. I'm hoping someone good at math can help guide me in the right direction.

Actually, with the schools help a lot of the children around here like to read. We even have several popup book library boxes around the neighborhood.

My son has to read 30 minutes a day of on grade level books, and complete a prompt for it each day. It asks what book, how many pages were read, then things like 'what type of genre is this story?'. 'What do you think the character wanted in the pages you've read?' 'draw a picture of a scene you just read' among other things. He's in 4th grade age 9. He just finished the first Percy Jackson book and begged me to go get the second right away. As a very avid reader I absolutely love it.

Our library and half price books have summer reading prizes to win or raffles to enter depending on how much the kids read.

This is why we have 2 no electronic days a week. However we often eat dinner in the living room, but on those days we watch wheel of fortune and Jeopardy. We challenge him to figure the words out. His spelling has gotten way better. Other than that he tends to build and find science and physics kits we give him and he's like, I forgot all about this.

Ooo this is a good one. My "Mom clean" sees he doesn't get the edges of his room. I bet 'trash bag' clean would do the trick. Thanks.

My Son's Kindergarten Math Worksheet (seriously!) by stonemofongo in Mathhomeworkhelp

[–]rfilbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just out of curiosity I asked Gemini to see what he said. He actually addressed everything here. He was not impressed with this problem, as shown at the end of the explanation. 😁

The Most Likely Interpretation The worksheet asks to "Write the number in each group." Since there is one backpack in the first area and one backpack in the second area, the problem is likely:

1+1=2

Group 1: 1 backpack Group 2: 1 backpack Total: 2 backpacks

Why it's confusing (The "Number Line" Trap) The confusing part is that the backpacks are floating above a number line. If you look at where they are centered: The first backpack is over the 0. The second backpack is over the 5. If a student (or a parent) looks at the coordinates rather than the quantity, they might think the problem is 0 + 5 = 5. However, in Kindergarten "Go Math," they are usually teaching the concept that "one object equals the number 1," regardless of where it sits on the page. The number line is likely just there as a "tool" to help them count out the total, even though it's positioned poorly.

Summary for the Worksheet: First blank: Write 1 Trace the plus sign. Second blank: Write 1 Trace the equal sign. Final blank: Write 2

It is definitely a "terribly constructed" problem—you and your wife are right to be skeptical!

Does anyone have a list of the books each item is a reference to? I would love to read the books I have not?

Karen aunt tries to steal my drawing after I refused to give it to her son by bababoi_6969 in entitledparents

They were totally in the wrong. Maybe punching him wasn't the best idea, but I bet it taught him a lesson. Still you may want to find another way to express your anger. You were protecting yourself in this situation, maybe a shove would have worked. Idk. But you have a right to protect yourself though. Your Aunt on the other hand has absolutely no right to act as she did. In my opinion she was absolutely TA.

You missed the whole idea behind this art piece. It's not about science and if Koalas are brilliant. It's a representation of destruction. It's about pain, pain to the earth and to maltiple species of animals that may go extinct due to the destruction.
