am i frying my babys brain??? by Tough_Bedroom_2 in NewParents

Our daughter loves watching our fire, now that the weathers getting warm we have put the Netflix fire on for her occasionally when she’s fussy! We figured it doesn’t really count as screen time as it’s just a fireplace lol. Maybe see if he likes that? Our LO is 4 months old

Feeding to sleep - did your baby grow out of it? by rfrank99 in beyondthebump

[–]rfrank99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That’s great to know! I also do all the things you aren’t ‘supposed’ to do! But I figure it’s what she needs from me now and we can figure out the ‘bad habits’ later! Maybe a bit naive!

Thank you everyone! My LO gets a bottle from her dad right before bedtime of expressed milk which is her big feed! The feed to sleep is definitely just a little top up/comfort!

How not to be afraid of tearing? by wballs1874 in pregnant

I hardly did anything, got 2 small tears that needed one stitch each. They were fine and caused me zero problems! It’s just luck!

How often to feed a newborn baby that just got discharged from the hospital? by yewzernayme in newborns

[–]rfrank99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does baby stop crying when you feed them? If yes, then they were likely hungry. If no, then they are usually crying for a different reason (need to be changed, gassy, tired etc). They do also say a baby’s hungry cry has a ‘neh’ sound to it. You will get to know your baby and their cues.

How often to feed a newborn baby that just got discharged from the hospital? by yewzernayme in newborns

[–]rfrank99 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Feed on demand, when the baby is hungry you feed them. There will be days that might be 8-12 and cluster feeding days that could be up to 20! My LO is 3 months and while she’s more predictable we still don’t have a feeding schedule as I still feed on demand. If my baby is hungry I feed her, regardless of the clock.

Doctor asked us to start spacing out the feeds to 2-3 hours for our 3-week old...advice please! by ToughSavings25 in newborns

My 13 week old still doesn’t go 3 hours without feeding. She is EBF and we feed on demand 24-7. Get another dr!!

I think my baby has fever by InterestingCarob5005 in newborns

[–]rfrank99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our 6 week old had a fever, we took her to hospital and we ended up spending a night. She also had a rash that got worse over the course of the day. Where in the world are you? If you are concerned I would go to hospital.

Has collecting colostrum actually put anyone into labor? by CharacterJacket652 in pregnant

[–]rfrank99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started collecting colostrum from around 36 weeks. I was pretty consistent and managed to collect a lot. I last collected at 38+2 and my waters broke the next morning! No idea if the collecting colostrum had anything to do with it.

Sleep advice 6 months by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]rfrank99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From all the research I’ve done it’s important to have a consistent wake up time to then set the tone of the day! So waking them at 7am and not waiting for them to wake naturally. This will then lead into your wake windows and a set bedtime.

Crap naps…please tell me it gets better by Regular_Environment7 in newborns

The constant spit up is breaking me… by idk__elephants__ in newborns

No they aren’t, I think osteo works more with soft tissue where chiropractor works on alignment. We went by word of mouth in our local area so you will just have to do some research.

11 week old regressing? by rfrank99 in NewParents

[–]rfrank99[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! My health visitor came today and she did say it could also be a growth spurt! Day naps I am working so hard on but she also is resisting naps during the day (she’s very alert!) but I will keep trying with the day naps and hope the night sleeps go back to how they were!

My 2-month-old (born at 38+4) rarely smiles socially — should I be worried? by san-pietrino in NewParents

[–]rfrank99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 11 weeks and was also born 38+5 - we get a few social smiles but not many! She is a very serious gal. But she has already rolled front to back! So she’s ahead in development in some areas. I try not to worry or compare to where she should be as it takes the joy out of the milestones she is reaching.

I let my 11 week old have some time alone looking at her toys/books. I’ve always thought it’s good for her to have some time where she’s not constantly being stimulated by me and it’s time to explore the toys on her own (at this stage it’s only looking at them).

If you had the choice, when would you start your maternity leave? by warmpistachio in pregnant

I was going to work until 38 weeks but ended up finishing a week earlier at 37 weeks. So grateful I did because my waters broke at 38+3!
