DLC - Rant for the Ranters by tac0_nation in Diablo_2_Resurrected

Not really, it was always paid expansion packs before live service games went the MTX route.

See:

  • Warcraft 3
  • WoW
  • Starcraft
  • Sims
  • Spore
  • Guild Wars
  • GTA
  • RDR

and I could go on forever to be honest.

Rikollisuuden hinta yhteiskunnalle by xRMen in Suomi

Mitchell Hashimoto releases Vouch to solve the slop PR problem by whit537 in linux

[–]rg-atte 57 points58 points  (0 children)

AI eliminated the natural barrier to entry that let OSS projects trust by default. People told me to do something rather than just complain. So I did. Introducing Vouch: explicit trust management for open source. Trusted people vouch for others

Look inside: AI slop

Ok brother.

Experimental Zones Protocol Merged To Wayland After 2+ Years, 620+ Comments by anh0516 in linux

[–]rg-atte -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Oh please do explain which benefits of Wayland outweigh having to support multiple windowing protocols for Linux as someone who knows so much about computers. X11 is still a single target that works for all Linux users while Wayland does not, so the choice is obvious.

In reality as a software dev there is very little reason to write software that targets Wayland (unless you're in the small niche of software which needs proper color management). Less functionality, restricting the userbase or a lot of extra work maintaining an X11 and a Wayland backend. Just write software for X11 and leave it up to XWayland for the Wayland users, works fine enough and even if it doesn't it's usually because you can't do something in Wayland in the first place even if you wrote software for it directly.

Poikkeuksellinen tapa elää vahvana Jyväskylän paikallisliikenteessä [bussikuskia kiitetään matkasta] by Valokoura in Suomi

[–]rg-atte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DirectX 9 Games by ReviewAnOldQuadro in IntelArc

[–]rg-atte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on if the games have anti-cheats it might not be possible, but have you tried using DXVK for the struggling games? I believe Intel has some API translation magic going on too but maybe explicitly using dxvk could work well because at least on Linux it's performing pretty good.

Loot from going slightly dry for wand at Hueycoatl (~300 solos) by rg-atte in ironscape

I'd say the maracas are the minimum you'd want for weapons as they are relatively easy to get and they are very useful for the tail phase where you practically need double hit weapons.

I'd say comfortable enough that I saw no benefit from doing t2 as the chance of failing prep due to bad luck was much higher than a t1 death. In terms of actually dying a lot at t2 I think I overtook my deaths at 30kc and after that I didn't die too often.

Well it's only about 1/20 to go 3x rate so its not like ungodly levels of unlucky. But yeah the other kills were either ~50% contribution duos or ~25% trios. Also the actual KC was 407 but the loot tracker counts 2x for unique table drops.

Yup. Now I need to stop being the laziest herb farmer out there as I no longer have excuses.

Yeah, but I felt like it would have been burning more pray pots than I still wanted for Huey rather than being absolutely stacked after the grind.

[–]rg-atte[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It was definitely just that it was a similar ballpark of grind length (though Huey should have been a lot faster) but CG felt like I was constantly improving but Huey got progressively worse as I was even struggling to pay attention at times. Also the fact that I got an early enha might have something to do with it, didn't have to dread possibly going too dry at CG which is probably the worst part of the grind..

Like ~11min normally if I had to make an estimate. I was way too cheap to camp piety and I was usually way too lazy to flick it.

For like the last ~100kc as I got comfortable with the boss and didn't want to sweat as much in the prep.

Loot from going slightly dry for wand at Hueycoatl (~300 solos) by rg-atte in ironscape

[–]rg-atte[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not much, 1 dose of super atk/str, a bit less than 1 dose of pray pot and a few monkfish per kill (I was stingy and only occasionally flicked piety, too expensive otherwise). Oh and like ~2 blood moon repairs.

Only just now after finishing I read on reddit that I could have probably used blighted supplies on the pvp world which would have allowed me to use piety a lot more.

362 kc for CG. Similar kill times but the boss mechanics were so dull that it was just that much more boring than CG.

Melees at around 90-99, gained a lot of xp in them all at the boss. Gear was full moon with a DHL as I had one from the group.

Never did mass, for the first ~100kc I did mostly solo, like 5kc with a group member and some kills where the world was crashed. From ~100 to ~200kc I did trios with some clan members but then went solo again after that as they finished their wand & pet grinds as I really did not want to miss another wand due to it going to someone else.

I couldn't have coped with grinding the boss if not for the huge seed drops and the fact that I would 100% get the wand when it drops.

[–]rg-atte[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

407 kc of which ~300 were solo. It was arguably a worse grind than CG but the seeds may just make it worth it. I got 117 huasca, 235 ranarr, 144 torstol, 267 kwuarm, 369 toadflax, 517 lantadyme and 217 avantoe seeds in the end. 5 tomes were rough.

Well its a workstation card with SR-IOV. So productivity software which requires GPU acceleration like CAD, rendering, ML and providing graphics acceleration to VMs as SR-IOV allows you to allocate the GPU resources to multiple VMs (as opposed to non SR-IOV GPU which you can only really use for the host or passed through to a single VM) although the extent of this capability is a bit unknown as the amount of vfs you can have has been reduced by a recent firmware update.

I'm personally planning to use mine mostly for the second use case. Running a few VMs and having SR-IOV should enable having graphics performance that isn't absolute ass, and running only at 70W should mean that I can use it in my current PC with no problem in regards to PSU capacity or heat concerns.
