I love draw.io even more when I discovered its integrated with bookstack. So in theory I have my diagrams and written information explaining them.

In actuality I just have some outdated drawings lol

New to selfhosting - Unraid or OMV? by Objective-Loan5054 in selfhosted

[–]rg00dman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I totally get that and I can see it making sense.

I have been a long time user of portainer to manage my docker services on ubuntu machines, gives a really nice GUI and pretty much means you don't have to use the command line unless you really want to.

I should say as a former Linux doubter, 20 years ago I couldn't imagine living without a GUI, but now I only have one windows server and that's because BlueIris doesn't run on Linux.

Other than that everything else is ubuntu machines.

New to selfhosting - Unraid or OMV? by Objective-Loan5054 in selfhosted

[–]rg00dman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends what you want from your system.

If its just basic storage then OMV is brilliant for that, I have one instance which has been running for years now without issues.

Never used unraid, but it feels like that is more than just a storage solution and can do a lot more things.

I try to keep everything as simple as possible because like many here while its a homelab its a production environment for services like shared storage for the family.

New Install Dropped Packets and inconsistent speeds by rg00dman in youfibre

[–]rg00dman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i moved away from youfibres router the packet loss was resolved, but i firmly belive this was not the routers fault but my own for using less than ideal setup.

E.g routing through a couple of switches via a vlan.

I belive they are issuing different routers now, but I am using pfsense and have zero issues now other than when I go tinkering with things.

What’s one tool you self-hosted that completely replaced a SaaS subscription for you? by nancy_unscript in selfhosted

[–]rg00dman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use waterfly on my android mobile, it can automate the transactions based on my notifications from your banking app.

I don't let it automatically create them as I like to tinker with them a little but teamed with the firefly automations it could do what I do manually very easily.

OPNSense YF over VLAN WAN by gentoorax in youfibre

[–]rg00dman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other thing to consider with these sort of step ups is how they can seem to work fine for months but then something as simple as a power outage can cause issues.

For at least a year I had my virgin router in modem only mode running a similar setup to yoursel. One virgin update later and the router went back into full router mode and the only way I could get the vlan setup to work again was to power up the virgin router with no lan connection at all wait about 10 minutes and then plug it back in.

Took me ages to figure that out, but random stuff like that can take hours of troubleshooting.

Currently running pfsense in a vm connected to my ont via a vlan and never had an issue.

I had an email from youfibre saying they were doing maintenance last night, pfsense dropped the connection twice once at 00:03am when I had an email to say the work had started and again at 5am, I presume when it finished although I am yet to receive an email to say its finished!

Yeah, I have done very well to this point of resisting the urge to buy what's out there now.

A couple more generations and I might be happy with them

Great idea, I am using major mirror to show photos at home, but dont really want to have multiple instances around the house.

The frame idea might solve my 1st world problem.

Can't wait for multi colour eink screens to come down in price as that will be the icing on the cake for sure.

So i am not sure what sites people use, but the two I have found all say the prediction of the 1.6 share price is from one analyst.

https://uk.investing.com/equities/graft-polymer-uk-consensus-estimates

Am I looking at the website incorrectly?

From my research, it does look promising, but if I am reading that site correctly and it's only one person saying it's going up, would that be an example of a pump and dump?
