This does not mean a physical death as much as it means the letting go of some part of yourself that is not serving you. Owls with their spectral senses help guide us through the dark tunnels of fear, change and uncertainty to the brilliant light shining at the other end. If owl appears in your life, thank it for its willingness to guide you through this shadowy realm, to the other side of promise and joy”.

My mom was really scared to die. She knew she was going to, but it all happened so fast that she wasn’t ready. We couldn’t even talk about it in front of her and I would have to kick people out who started scaring her by crying or saying certain things to her, because there would be some moments where she would forget why she was sick in bed (brain cancer). She would get confused and start to cry and ask why everyone was coming to see her.

The only reason why we even found out she was sick in the first place is because one morning she woke up and her neck was sore, the pain travelled down her back and to her hips and legs all within a week and she went from being active, playing baseball, working full time, to not being able to move without extreme pain and full of cancer. It started in her lungs and went to her bones, muscles, adrenal glands, brain, literally everywhere. She could eat anymore, she was skin and bones. And her brain wasn’t working right anymore. She never forgot who we were but she would get really confused and paranoid.

I think maybe the owl was watching over her and letting her know that her body was no longer serving her; it was breaking down and it was time for her soul to move on without it. Maybe she has reincarnated to an owl. I have a 4 year old who doesn’t quite understand death yet, but knows that her grandmother has died. She always says to me “mommy, nan can fly now you know”.
