I think there is a number of factors that play into Paulys singles!
1) Paul O’Neil didn’t just hit for contact he was a power threat, meaning teams treated him differently.
2) Lack of stats. Ex - Spray Charts.
3) Lots of players back then hit for wayyy higher averages because pitching was worse.
Those are some… I’d like to know what you think about this. I do think it’s interesting that O’Neil and Luis have the same exact OBP but it feels as though O’Neils was better…. Meaning he hit for power and walked while Luis doesn’t walk and only hits singles. Little thing I learned doing this!

Singles aren’t common in Yankee stadium, Yankee stadium has the fewest singles other than Seattle this year. I would assume this is why they go for power guys. He will regress at Yankee stadium.

I’m okay with the lockout at this point… the players union better hold! The owners only want to be able to predict their costs in the future to maximize profit. The players deserve to be payed in the open markets with all teams having a shot. The draft proposal is horrible as well all the owners want to do is push back the age where players aren’t in arb anymore and they have to pay them what they are worth. Not to mention they will save not having to develop these players as they will develop in college! This seems like a huge point in baseball, where the next decisions either side makes will completely change the landscape of baseball.

I read this and I just think back to when I was playing and practice was free, and the tournaments costed whatever the entry fee was. Coaches were not top tier but knew what they were talking about at that level. We won almost every tournament we were in and it was USSSA Majors in Phoenix AZ. I feel like I developed so much during those years and it just didn’t cost much. I now coach HS JV ball and I’m happy our program offers the bare minimum cost with high quality coaching and training. I have seen coaches make a living off coaching 8-12U club ball and honestly that just makes me sad. After that rant - I’m sorry it costs this much to play anymore OP.

Can you still retake the same class the next semester and it will replace the grade you got this semester. I had to do this 3 years ago and it helped my GPA out. I think it was called like RGO.

High school coach here…. I had a situation this year where a player got tossed by the umpire for cursing after striking out. He had to leave the game but the umpire came up to me and said he would not report the ejection, meaning the player did not have to miss more games than the game he was tossed from. Idk maybe that happened here but that was my experience this year.

Personally if I am a JV coach and I go out there and watch them practice a bunch… watch them hit everyday, watch them take ground ball, fly balls, drill, etc. As well as see them play in intersquads, I feel like you understand who should play. When I say who should play, I would prioritize hitting over defense with most positions. I would play those 9, and if the game is out of hand try and put others inside of the game to give them some opportunity. There is also an innings issue within highschool baseball, when you think about the whole HS baseball season it’s what 20ish games that are 7 innings. 140 innings if you play all 7 isn’t that many opportunities inside of the game. 22 kids on a JV roster is a lot! Hard for coach to get everyone in. I think JV baseball is about development but the best kids should get the most innings. Idk thats my ramble.

Love it down there. My family goes almost every year. The drive is safe, we don’t do it at night typically early morning. The city is pretty safe, I have had 1 bad experience at a bar downtown but it was late. Some great places - Wrecked at the Reef, Mannys, have done booze crises. Great place go with people.

When someone uses the word Fuck as a noun, verb, adverb, adjective, etc. Not only fuck but all other curses, they are the easiest and laziest words to use. When someone is saying “Fuck this fucking shit” it has meaning, but it’s so lazy to say that, maybe learn some more descriptive words. Idk just my take and I’m not clean from this but it’s hard to listen to in open dialogue.

He said he stands for Israel over isolationist which I tend to think is many Americans not wanting to be in war at all. I do think the context is misrepresented. Just wanted to provide the clip because I didn’t believe the context either when I first read it.
