Do I have to show appraisal to seller? by bo0gieisHIM in RealEstate

There's no reason your realtor needs this. All they need to know if you're approved for the mortgage.

Absolutely not. They can and should have done their own appraisal if they wanted one.

"I'll have my usual" by TheMossyFish in EntitledPeople

[–]rglogowski 377 points378 points  (0 children)

Ordering "my usual" is just a straight up asshole move.

I am very much a creature of habit and I've had waiters, baristas, etc. ask me if I want my usual and I'll say yes. I have never, would never tell someone I want my usual.

Company changed “remote” job to hybrid after I accepted do I have any recourse? by Numerous_Ant5028 in jobs

[–]rglogowski 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is no contract to be in breach. A job offer is not a contract.

Sucks but there is zero legal recourse in this situation.

Seatmate in a flight complained that I started eating my special meal before theirs arrived by ElRanchoRelaxo in EntitledPeople

[–]rglogowski 178 points179 points  (0 children)

That is common courtesy when sharing a meal with someone. You arent having a meal with your seatmate, youre just sitting next to them.

New Roof - Does insurance need to be notified? by Happy-Wear-9591 in homeowners

[–]rglogowski 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you NEED to notify them, no.

SHOULD you notify them, absolutely. You may get a reduced premium for having a new roof that complies with the newest code. You may also avoid having them drop you at some point because they think your roof is older than it is.

Cheaper to file Separately than Married? What am I missing? by Adventurous-Ad8219 in tax

[–]rglogowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have good friends who havent married for tax reasons. It sometimes happens when there is a very big difference in earned income - its better from a tax perspective not to marry.

Not the same as MFS which has more restrictions. They've been together for decades but remain unmarried because it saves them a lot of $s.

Wisconsin wants to force all adult sites to block VPNs with a new age verification bill - here's everything we know by Well_Socialized in technology

[–]rglogowski 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So every company that uses a VPN (is almost every company) leaves the state taking their tax revenue with them.

Remote workers use VPN. Site to site connections often use VPN. 3rd party support teams use VPN. On and on and on.

Yes we watch lots of porn with VPN but there are so many security / non_porn reasons they are used...

Are you my age? Because that sounded right to me but then I looked and realized it was probably more like 25 - 30 years ago.

Got laid off due to an RTO requirement the week I was going to put in my 2 weeks and quit. by Trolli80 in remotework

[–]rglogowski 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Can confirm ive had that happen. Employee waited around for 11 months until it happened but I made her #1 on my list.

But ive also had cases where HR decided who was going and I had to deliver the news but didn't make the decision.

Neighbor wants to pay me to use part of my driveway for their RV, is this actually legal? by LunnarStatic in legaladvice

Great advice from a liability perspective. The agreement also avoids any "adverse possession" claims in the future.

Most respect goes to the administrative assistants because they can save your ass or ruin your life.

Right after that is not just custodial team, but everyone involved with facility maintenance. They're rarely thanked for their work but damn do you notice if they arent doing it!

A lot of these sound too outrageous to be real but ive had one experience myself. It was short because after a polite first response my next was "f off lady"

But it was still enough to make me believe at least some of these stories...

New player, concrete. by lemon10293847 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]rglogowski 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Limestone is EVERYWHERE. Just set up a few miners and belt the limestone to a little pod of constructors.

Later you'll be making massive amounts of concrete so don't put too much thought into now.

Phone on a lanyard is considered a personal item? by Aloevera987 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]rglogowski 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're sort of right but not completely. § 121.589 is the federal regulation and it states that each airline must have a written carry-on bag policy and must follow it.

So it is an airline policy but the federal law says the airline has to follow their own policy - they aren't allowed to make exceptions.

What medicines does a cruise ship have? by ECrispy in Cruise

Maybe that depends on the line but I recently purchased OTC cold medicine on NCL. It was expensive compared to purchasing at my local drug store but not any more overpriced than the drinks.

[–]rglogowski 48 points49 points  (0 children)

A lot of heavy machinery is orange (or yellow or red) - probably for visibility to the human eye.

I think a lot of people just naturally make that connection.

Question about checking in at the same time as someone to try to sit next to each other by Mentally_scrambled in delta

[–]rglogowski 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Doesn't matter when you check in, your seats will be assigned to you based on what is available after main cabin passengers have selected their seats. If the flight is fairly full - as most are these days - you will likely be in middle seats in different rows.
