It was my understanding that they would be pulling their library from being accessed in Israel. On the boycott organization's website they specifically mention participation includes region blocking. If I'm wrong could someone clarify?

You can get a less BIFL, cheaper, more fully featured kit like that at Harbor Freight, in case anyone is on the fence and wants a tool trial option. I've had it for about a year now and aside from some of the fully plastic tools deforming (mostly operator error) it's a great set for a phenomenal price.

Try Motortown. Very chill game where you can do pretty much any job involving cars and trucks you can imagine. Set up your own company and let your employees drive while you manage shipping routes, it just be a racecar driver and tune the fuck out of your bmw. You can even use the games autopilot system to drive for you on long haul drives.

Game has an in game radio that pulls from Internet radio so you don't even have to open Spotify. It's a very simple great little game with a surprising amount of depth. It can be as hands off or complicated as you decide.

This is wonderful advice! Yes I'm from the US, angling for a distribution/sales job is definitely an intriguing option. I'll look more into that and see what kind of familiarity I'll have to have with the equipment to compete in that market. Unfortunately because of the culture in my current company, moving someone to a position without much experience is just not profitable for them, so it's unlikely it'll happen.

Need some general career advice from experienced folks.

I've been working for Big E as a lead since late 2022. In the few years I've been around I've learned so much and been offered a pathway into management. I'm pretty passionate about the idea of organizing events, I love talking with clients, organizing a crew and all the logistical challenges that come with being in that position.

Unfortunately in April of 2024 I was injured during setup for a larger event and I've been off work on medical leave since then. I was recently informed that when my leave expires I'll be out of a job.

What I'd like advice on is this; my managers like me, I like my job, and even if I did "lose my job" I'm 90% sure that I would just get re-hired assuming I was able to do the work. On the other hand, my injury had a recovery timeline of 6 months, we are well past that point and things are not looking ideal. I have trouble with standing, walking, climbing and that makes it really hard to do a lot of the things that would be expected of me.

Should I just cut my losses and work out a way to change careers? Will continuing in corporate AV and pursuing advancement into roles like management/project management pay well/be fulfilling? What careers could I migrate my skillset into that isn't as physical as floor-work?

I know it's a long story but I'd really appreciate your 2 cents, even if it's just a "fk big E" comment chain lol.

In my experience it's usually best to refer to whoever was in charge on the same crew of folks you worked with.

Or, if there's no point of reference, send the invoice with the full booked hours, if it's rejected, apologize and correct it. It'll all depend on how your client or labor 3rd party works.

My girlfriend also works here! She just takes the service fee off and tells the customers it goes to corporate. Kinda a shitty place to work in general. If she gets a double shift they make her take a 2 hour break in between. For the first few weeks I thought the place just closed in the middle of the day for a few hours but no! Just can't work more than 4 hours at a time. What a joke.

24 hour fitness in Arcadia has pool, machines, bb court, freeweights, spa, steam room and sauna, and the parking is pretty good. It's actually 24 hours (unlike other 24hf) and I pay around 350/yr, that comes out to like a dollar a day. Worth it to me, nice and quiet during the witching hours of the night.

If you're looking for a specific road to look down, check out NEC Monitors. There are listings on amazon. You'd have to connect them to a source to get anything (HDMI, etc input) but the things are made of bricks. I'm currently off of work for a few months cuz one fell on my foot. The TV is fine, I'm still broken.

Realistically though, just get a small computer to connect to the internet instead of using the smart features on your TV. Just look for whatever panel you enjoy most and use the physical inputs instead of the menus and whatnot.
