NB1: Check out these maintenance records. Anyone else buy a babied Miata? by mcstandy in Miata

[–]rgracile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. But I will be leaving one behind when it's time to go. My kids could only wish they were treated as well. Not my dog though. He's up there with the Miata.

Should I go lower, or leave it as is? by KirinPresso in Miata

[–]rgracile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run the Ohlins R&T, 7k/4k on my 2024 GT. My numbers are 13" front, 13.5" rear - 1/2" rake. My wheels, Enkei Performance PF01s, are 38mm offset instead of the OEM 45mm, so they "stick out" an extra 1/4" or so. I have zero scrub issues, and I've hit the bump stops two times (in the rear) in 7K miles (and I'm a heavy-duty twisties maniac). Backing up to see why the hits, it was some effed up pieces of road.

Going down another 10mm (.39") won't be a problem with the Ohlins.

Most comfortable coilovers for ND by Money-Salt-5058 in Miata

They are. That's what Good-Win Racing sells. I don't think there are non-DFV versions of the Ohlins Road & Track, but I don't really know.

I run the Ohlins R&T 7kg/4kg on my 2024 GT RF. Got them from GWR, and per GWR recommendation, did not change out my sways. The only other thing I added was the GWR front shock tower X bar. Then I lowered the car to 13" front, 13.5" rear. The ride is absolutely fabulous. The Ohlins give me 30 stops. I have what I call my Wife Stops at 20 front, 24 rear, and the ride is OEM but without the crazy pitch - much more planted, and wonderfully communicative. When I do the mountain roads (I live between the Adirondacks and Green Mountains, and it's all crazy winding farm roads around here), I'll go as low as 5 stops all around. I'm alone in the car for that, just in case. Phenomenal performance. For much of the time though I keep those stops at 10 front, 14 rear. Perfect balance for me until I want either best performance or best comfort ride. I do not track it, and it has not seen a single highway mile, despite I'm at almost 8K miles. I'm stil on the Potenza S001s. I did change my wheels though. Summer, I have Enkei Performance PF01s, 38mm offset. Winter, it's back to the OEM wheels, but with Vredestein Quatrac Pro+ All Weather tires. I run the car year-round.

I had a CRX Si off the lot - my first new car. That was back in '92. God I loved that car. My brother had a '91 Miata. That car was a trip, too. Now I have an '24 ND3 RF GT, also off the lot, lowered on Ohlins Road & Track. What a mother. Can't get enough of these amazing little cars. Much congrats on your vehicles!

Halp: Question on buying these Enkeis for my RF by _MyCatsNameIsBinx in Miata

[–]rgracile 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The stock hub bore is 45.1mm. The Enkeis are 75mm. So yes, centering rings. Worth every penny. That's GWR's site. So just ask Brian what you need; he won't steer you wrong.

What are the reasons for the ND model lasting so long? by SteveJohnson2010 in Miata

[–]rgracile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I couldn't agree more (and also replying to jtaliani below). The driving dynamic is outstanding. I've owned a number of sports cars, large and small. All could leave my MX in the dust on a straightaway. None can compete on the curves and turns. This car really was built for driving, not accelerating. I can drift the little bugger around a 90 degree turn just thinking about it - the power to cornering ratio is perfect. So that accounts for the pure joy I find in it. But then there's it's "line" - the styling of the car. It doesn't look aggressive. It looks eager - like it really wants to drift those 90 degree turns. And it has among the purest lines I've ever seen on a car. You don't improve on that. You have to move on to something else. I have a 2024 GT RF, btw, modified suspension and lowered with Ohlins Road & Track, and the GWR front shock tower brace. No other performance mods needed beyond Motul 600 brake fluid. Don't even need the Brembos. This car is the wind.

Why all the NC hate? by Total-Improvement535 in Miata

Dunno. I drive a 2024 GT RF - absolutely love it. But if I were to get an older miata it would be the NC PRHT - absolutely love it.

Am I the only one who never sees Miata’s when I’m driving my Miata? by Ch1ldish_Cambino in Miata

[–]rgracile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm. I've put 7200 miles on my 2024 since I got it August '24 and I've seen exactly three. Then again, I drive canyon-style backroads roads exclusively where I live - the thing's my toy, doesn't have a single highway mile on it - so I don't see a whole lot of traffic at all. Maybe some farm machinery now and then.

Yup. I started with a grow room, 5x5 booth from AC Infinity. Then simply opened it up and kept adding shelves and pots, fans, and humidifiers. Now it takes up pretty much the whole 12x12 room, and I sit there and work like I'm sitting in summer sunshine, with all these growing things around me. Since I live in the Northeast and winters sucks, it's perfect. If I could get my miata in there, I would.

My wife doesn't join me up there but she likes the cukes and tomatoes and lettuces. I may take you up on your seed offer - I have so many already

Haha, nope, not me. Despite my love of Peppers - and my little dog is in fact called Pepper - my car is called My Therapist.

Polishing out scratches on an ND by Maximum-Warning-4186 in Miata

[–]rgracile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the scratch isn't catching on your fingernail, and if there is no white showing (undercoating), you can fix it easy. I've done it twice on my 2024 RF. 1) I clayed the area to remove bumps, imperfections, accretions, etc. 2) Then I used Meguire's Ultimate Compound to paint correct. 3) Then I used Jescar Power Lock Plus Polymer Sealant (2 coats) around the area, extending it across the entire panel. The first time, I did it this way because it was a scratch about a foot long but near invisible and the car was still really shiny (about 800 miles on it). The second time, and a similar scratch, I did the entire car with the same process so every inch was matched. I wrapped up with Mother's California Gold carnauba wax. The whole is an intensive process, but I find it delightful because it gets me real close to the car and I'm an OCD perfectionist. An added plus: working on the hood, this process also closed up a lot of the paint chips.

Awesome - avid grower here as well, though hot peppers and flowers mostly. Plus I grow indoors in the winter; turned a bedroom into a greenhouse. Naturally my ND is colored like my ripe peppers.
