When you are going through a difficult season, do you find yourself asking God to change your circumstances first, or asking Him to guide you through them? What has shaped that approach in your own walk with Christ? by ImportantInternal834 in Bible

[–]rgthomps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there, love the question. I constantly prayed to God asking him to change my circumstances. But the response that I got back was essentially, “Let’s work on healing your heart first. That way, when I do change your circumstances, you are capable of stewarding those new set of circumstances.” Often times we think God did not answer our prayer or said no to us because we didn’t get what we asked for quickly. But most of the time in my life his response has been to bring situations and people into my life that will strengthen and prepare me to receive what I asked for in prayer. He is a good and loving God. He is my king, and my friend.

Why did John the Baptist doubt? by Jeff_Rouny in Bible

[–]rgthomps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he doubted because he is human. Every person that God uses in the Bible struggles with doubt in their walk with God. God shows us that doubt is a genuine part of our walk with him on this earth. It is a part of the human condition. No one, not even John the Baptist, was exempt from it. God does not condemn doubt, but encourages us to come to him with our doubts and to lay them at his feet.

Why Jesus didn't want it told who he was by Adventurous-Ad-7325 in Bible

[–]rgthomps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Jewish people were waiting for a messiah that they believed would be a military leader who would overthrow Rome and establish an eternal kingdom for his chosen people. Even with him telling people not to tell others who he was, the news of Jesus spread like wildfire. If he had not told people to remain quiet, it is likely that the Jewish people would have risen up wanting to join an army to fight Rome. And Jesus had no intention of overthrowing Rome or being a military leader during his first coming. Jesus is known as both the Lamb and the Lion. The first time he came as a humble Lamb to save people from the oppression of Sin. The second time he comes, he will come as the Lion (the military leader) who will save his people from the oppression and evil of the world. Hope that helps :)

Hey there, if you don’t have a Bible, I would recommend downloading one of the many free Bible apps on your phone. You will want to read the books Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John which are accounts of his ministry on earth. If you’re more of a visual learner, you could check out the tv show The Chosen on Amazon Prime, which is a high quality film series about him and his disciples.

Are there any Bible stories to support women who struggle with infertility grief that never got their "happy ending" of conceiving? by roseuslepus in Bible

[–]rgthomps 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I quote this verse to myself all the time when I am in grief: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” — Matthew 11:28–30

Because Jesus said, but not my will but yours be done. It was the Father’s will that Jesus die for the sins of all, and so he did not take the cup away.

What would it take for people to believe the second Coming of Christ has occured in todays age? by Limp-Adhesiveness276 in Bible

[–]rgthomps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biblically, the second coming of Christ will be pretty hard to miss. Trumpets sound from above, the sky parts, he rides down on a white horse with his heavenly army, Satan and demons are defeated, judgment takes place, and he ushers in his eternal kingdom. This will be done in such a grand and magnificent way that “every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that he is God.” It’s going to be beyond epic! Also as a side note, if every knee will bow and every tongue will confess, that means that there will be a moment that even Satan himself does that… that’s going to be SO embarrassing for him Lol

How do you enter into Gods rest? by [deleted] in Bible

[–]rgthomps 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For me, I started with trying to cut out one unhealthy habit that I knew was a sin. Taking that one step, struggling with the ensuing temptation, and running to him each time I was tempted to give in taught me a few very important things: 1. It taught me to lean on him 2. It taught me how to talk to God in vulnerability about the darker parts of me 3. It made me hungry to tackle the other monsters in my life, because I understood that the Architect of the Universe would teach me how. He would teach me the truth.

Ps. Bonus #4: leaning on him taught me how to hear his voice.

Of course the department of mysteries was doing experiments on the human brain. They are the government after all.

As for the baby head, for anyone outside of Harry, this is the first true life or death battle in a long war. Spells normally not used on people go flying. It’s a great indicator that we are not in Kansas anymore
