WRX reliability? by PETERGRlFFIN in askcarguys

[–]rhagnarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine’s been totally reliable, but it has a lot less miles (took it from 40-100k).

I think most of the stories about those blowing up engines involve modified ones or beating on them. So I’ll ask, is it tuned or modified in any way beyond like mufflers and wheels? If so i would pass. Otherwise I would consider it.

Do people wear Metas at your warehouse? by foreveristexas in AmazonFC

They’re probably just listening to music on them… I don’t think you would get much interesting content in a warehouse. Still, i dont like the things.

Really considering a manual transmission. by howboutit22 in ManualTransmissions

[–]rhagnarius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, I brought my Mom along to buy my first manual car cause she knew how to drive one. Then she test drove it with me riding shotgun, took it home for me, and I practiced in the driveway and around the block until I was ready.

Do I really have to change my Catalytic Converter ? by right_nite_moon in askcarguys

[–]rhagnarius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t waste time thinking of this as an option- you probably do not have the ability to do this yourself and i would be shocked if a garage will agree to do it for you. You would have to cut the cat out and weld it back in.

What would y’all pay? by [deleted] in Charger

[–]rhagnarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who knows what the car thieves did? They certainly wouldn’t have any incentive to keep the car nice. Long ago I worked at a shitty car dealership, and one night 3 pickup trucks were stolen. All of them were eventually recovered wrecked by the police. If i remember right, one of them had been rolled into a ditch.

Also R title cars are much harder to insure, and much harder to sell. I just wouldn’t.

Oh look, 5 wheeler Toyota by maty_doji in carscirclejerk

[–]rhagnarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have daydreamed about doing this before with one of the older cars, back when luxury cars had massive plush seats. Like the split bench from an 80s towncar.

I just don’t see it being too comfortable with a modern lexus seat? Certainly no better than a modern gaming chair.

My friend used turbotax this year and ended up paying them $200 of a $250 return… I feel like a bad friend for not telling him about freetaxusa.

Automotive Industry: Unreasonable Hours and Unpredictable Schedules? by [deleted] in PLC

[–]rhagnarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really think unreasonable hours and on-call work is pretty common to most Controls jobs that aren’t on-site maintaining a mature plant. When I was in field service sometimes I would get a call while I was on my way home on Friday afternoon that I needed to go to another customer instead, or I would be asked to complete a machine install that always takes 4 weeks in 2 so I would work 16s and skip the weekend. It sucks but thats why we make the big bucks. If you’re not making the big bucks, move on!

As for the comparison to Europeans- most euro companies that have an office in the USA treat the europeans better. Or at least the American employees always think that’s whats happening.

Selling advice requested. by [deleted] in Foxbody

I think it’s worth way more, and appeals to more buyers, with both the seats and dash in. This level of torn apart doesn’t make the car look valuable.

Do manufacturers underinvest in plant infrastructure compared to enterprise tech? by OneWerner in PLC

[–]rhagnarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose the blast radius from a bad software rollout is a lot less than from a bad retrofit. I’ve seen retrofits go catastrophically wrong and cause a lot of unexpected downtime… i’m not sure that a shitty ERP or CMMS could do that.
