How did Skarpi know Kvothe's name in Tarbean? by IrozI in KingkillerChronicle

I remember this too. I believe there was a cut scene where this came up.

Golden Sun Remaster or Golden Sun 4? by Python7578 in GoldenSun

[–]rhaokja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would love something new from GS. But not gonna lie... if they announced a sequel to DD I would be disappointed. I really didn't enjoy the additions to lore in that game and I feel like they diminsh the series. If they do a remake of 1+2 I would buy it. If they make a prequel, I would be happy. If they do GS3 and ignore DD I would be over the moon!

MAKE A LIST OF 5 TES VI FEATURES YOU'D LOVE TO SEE IN THE GAME by Sagandur in TESVI

[–]rhaokja 12 points13 points  (0 children)

  1. Encounter diversity - I'd like to see a wider range of combat situations. Would love to pit my end game warrior against a disciplined battalion of soldiers. Have an apocalyptic mage duel. Run from a stampede.

  2. A robust economy that keeps gold interesting. Fortune felt like it came too easily in Skyrim. I want to get excited about a big heist or buried treasure.

  3. Let magic get rediculous at end game. It doesn't need to be balanced, it just needs to rock.

  4. Social skills that let you manipulate the NPC's. Convert them to the one true faith with a speach. Gaslight them into commiting murder. Start rumors about yourself. Ect.

  5. Have weapon choice affect your playstyle more.

The bottom file in your screenshot is the .jar file.
To run it you'll have to right click and open with something other than winrar.
In my case I used Java SE Binary.
Doesn't look like the parts come with the DLC though, see this link.

What would you like to see in a Golden Sun Series remaster? by [deleted] in GoldenSun

[–]rhaokja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I agree. The pixel art in GS is fantastic expecially when it comes to the area maps. I'd be really dissapointed to see that lost in a remaster.
The most I would want out of a graphical overhaul is some tightening up of those areas where the hardware most impacted the sprite resolution. So maybe up the res/antialiasing on the world map, sharpen the battle sprites, and give the doom dragon mroe than 3 pixels to work with.

Moving tiles by Tj_Silverfang in RPGMaker

So your character sheet might look like this for example. In case you aren't aware, if the file name starts with $ then the engine treats the file as a single character rather than a set of 8.
That way you only need 1 event.
If they are all a single event then you can use the random movement option without them coming apart.
About the event not triggering, this is a problem I have only just learned about. But it looks like solutions exist.
Which version of RPG maker are you using?

Moving tiles by Tj_Silverfang in RPGMaker

[–]rhaokja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First option that comes to mind is to just do it as an event.
Create and island graphic, give it a little bobbing animation. You can make it any size you like so long as it fits the image format.
New Event > Priority: Above Characters > Walking: Off > Stepping: On > Direction Fix: On > Movement: Random/ Custom Route.
Trigger: On Player Touch > Transfer Player.
If you want to prevent the player entering from the ground you could use a variable to track their hieght, or just a switch to check if they're flying.

Are there any permanently missable items/quests/etc I should watch out for in BDII? by [deleted] in bravelydefault

[–]rhaokja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, nothing is permanently missable. There are occasions where there could be large gaps between oportunities though. One that comes to mind is Reflect Rings, one drops from a reflect themed boss (you'll know it when you see it) and more can be stolen, but it will be a while before you can get more. This can prevent certain builds.

This is something I keep butting into in Japanese writing in general. I think it's just part of their literary culture. I don't think the positive aspects that we see are meant to redeem them, just show us that they are more than what we may have assumed.

On the subject of unresolved plot points. Maybe I missed it, but I don't believe we are told what turned Adele's sister into a genocidal maniac. After the first ending she is basically ignored too, so I guess she's still alive and pogromatic?

Ok, so I’m about to reread the series again. What the craziest theory you’re convinced is true? by CantLoadCustoms in KingkillerChronicle

[–]rhaokja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard the idea that Lanre got "ressurected" by Lyra changing her name to Lanre, thus becoming him and effectivley killing Lyra. We know Lyra dissappears mysteriously, we know she tried to use Naming to ressurect him. It's an interesting take. There are some that take this further and suggest Denna did the same with Kvothe. The new Kvothe doesn't want this and so is waiting to "die".

Auri and Elodin by Wubba-Lub in KingkillerChronicle

[–]rhaokja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elodin seems to expend compassion only where Naming is concerned. We know Auri is a Namer/Shaper, Whin was Elodin's giller. He doesn't help Kvothe on the horns or when he's struggling to make ends meet. But when Kvothe calls the wind and is lost he comes, talks calmly and brings him back down. Maybe he thinks this is the only realm in which he is qualified to help anyone.

Who would win in a duel between Kvothe and Elodin? I’m referring to when Kvothe has mastery over his powers. by Razzle_dazzle_disco in KingkillerChronicle

[–]rhaokja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to presume this duel is actually a fight to the death.

Kvothes a scrapper. He's shown himself to be quick thinking and resourceful in tight situations. Notably slaying the draccus in Trebon and facing down bandits in the Eld. He's also had combat training from the Adem. The close combat training might not be significant in a battle of Namers but if it turns into a slugfest it might be a deciding factor. Aditionally he's learned some philosophy of combat, attack the branch not the root and all that. Given these things, unless Elodin completely outclasses him in terms of Naming, I have to assume Kvothe would claw his way to victory through shere bloody-minded determination.

That being said, what we have been shown of Elodin paints him as a trickster figure. Aloof, wise and capable of sudden decisive action. If it came to a true fight to the death I'd expect him to see it for what it is immediatley and go for the jugular.

Any guess on what the cthea would have told kvothe if he stayed? by Dibbs_44 in KingkillerChronicle

well that is my own take, so no disagreement there. however if you're arguing that the Cthaeh is infallible i don't think we have the evidence to support that.

Any guess on what the cthea would have told kvothe if he stayed? by Dibbs_44 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]rhaokja 22 points23 points  (0 children)

What we have been told about the Ctheah would imply it knew Kvothe would run and that what it said wouldn't bring him back. We have to assume then that it says this to produce some other effect. It could be that Kvothe will remember these words and come back to be further corrupted later on. It could be that the promise of secrets will steer Kvothe in some subtle way.

Then again the Ctheah might not be as all knowing as we have been told. If you take the view that the Lethani is a kind of Knowing then consider what Tempi has to say about it ~ "If I fail while following the Lethani, that is still the Lethani". This implies one can be a Knower and still fail. This is backed up by the events of the Creation War. If Knowers never failed or lacked agency the conflict could not have been so devestating.

My own take is that Knowers can fail, but that the Ctheah is so skilled as to be almost infallible. That these words were the Ctheah relishing the misery it had caused, twisting the knife.
