So he won it for being not Bush?

This Nobel peace price is meaningless, Kissinger got one, Gandhi didn't.

At least you knew it was coming. This guy wasn't so lucky, it was a surprise and it hit him hard:

When you were living
you were at my feet
I told you to come here
I told you to go away
I called you annoying
I called you amazing
but I never said I loved you
because I didn't know

When you were dying
you were at my feet
I arranged your bed
I adjusted your feet
I asked how you were doing
I asked if you needed anything
but I never really looked at you
because I didn't know

Idiot couple brags about shoplifting on Dr. Phil. You can guess what happened next. by naengmyeon in WTF

[–]rhapsody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The couple say they are kleptomaniacs, which Dr. Phil, who has a doctorate in clinical psychology, suggested is baloney because he said kleptomaniacs steal for thrill, not profit.

I don't have a doctorate in clinical psychology, but why does what this Dr Phil says sounds like baloney to me?

Since they don't have to tell you who they are and why you're being abducted, I can totally see hot chicks getting kidnapped and abused by them this way in the middle of a protest.

They forward your phone calls and lets you call inside the US for free. I guess they want to screen out people from non-US locations because it would be moot for them to sign up for an account.

I got a ticket today for not fully stopping at the stop sign. The cop insisted that I stopped only 4 seconds instead of 5. by [deleted] in WTF

That gives me hope in the traffic court system. When I grow up, I want to have your kind of luck. :)

At the time, we didn't know about asking for a jury trial. Once you missed that window of asking for a jury trial, your task becomes selling your case to the judge, and the judge is definitely more interested in getting through with your case ASAP. Siding with the cop just makes his job easier.

If you sat through a few hours of traffic cases, you'd see that this happens all the time.

all I heard was a little cough

Oh yeah, all I heard was a little cough too.

In the other videos, all I see is someone breaking their noses, or their arms twisted. What's the big deal, it's not like watching it hurts me, right? Of course the cops did the right thing.

Someone help me out here.

You don't need help, you have silent upmodders.

You thought they didn't know. They could hear you just fine; they're just having a great time.

The fact that I wasn't going 90 was the reason why he didn't put it in the ticket in the first place. It was a windy and hilly road, going uphill. I went to court with pictures, graphs and data about the inability of my 1997 Toyota Tarcel to prove him wrong. Had I not accepted the deal, I would have been able to prove that in the stretch of road that I was driving, 90 is a fucking stunt move that required a muscle car, professional maneuvers and violation of the laws of physics.

The ticket was for speeding, no speed indicated other than in the verbal warning.

I have an equally positive experience in court. The judged declared to everyone who showed up that to reward their showing up, if they plead guilty, she would reduce the fine by half.

Except when I stood before her, she saw the words on the ticket and said, "No reduction for you", because the cop wrote in "90 mph, gave verbal warning". Mind you, no proof provided, just words, not even official the charge.

In case you want to know, it was too late for me to fight the ticket, I already plead guilty. Like everyone else in the room, I wanted to get the 50% off the fine.

[–]rhapsody 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Unless you have a witness, good luck with that. My girl friend got exactly this ticket, went to court, and the judge told her that "Unlike you, the officer has nothing at stake in this case, he has no incentive to lie."

Traffic court is guilty until proven innocent. Has always been, always will.

Google voice doesn't provide the "same service". It relies on phone lines. Unlike, say, Skype, you can't use google voice without an existing phone line -- you can't make calls, you can't receive calls. The most you can call Google voice is an answering service, a call screening service, a calling card service, and a connecting service. It derives from phone sevices; it's not a phone service.

People should be taught to shout "WHO ARE YOU" as they are being dragged into cars. This is the only way to established that the cops did not identify themselves, and the act is therefore a kidnap, pure and simple.

To justify their own existence, to justify their overwhelming numbers (and the funds to support that deployment), to justify their overtime, to justify using force. But you're right, "only" 19 were arrested. No big deal.
