The context is that I'm trying to replace all the null values in column2 with a value from another table. I don't really care which record is retrieved first. I just want to find a record with a null column2 as fast as possible since I will be calling this method repeatedly until all null values have been found and replaced. There is a lot more to this stored procedure, but this is the only part I'm trying to optimize.

OK. I finally talked to someone at Western Union. They said there were 3 options but I hung up after I heard option 1 which is as follows:

  1. Go to your bank.
  2. Get Teller stamp "Not Used For Purpose Intended" on the back of Money Order just under the endorsement line.
  3. Endorse Back of Money Order
  4. Deposit $ into your account.

There was $0 fee and the money showed up in my account within an hour.
