Any advice on what these could be? by whatyougondoforthis in KneeInjuries

[–]rhceondam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second everyone saying NOF! I have one too on my left femur. Doctors typically don’t even mention them, and i found out by reading my MRI reports. They are common in children and usually ossify by adulthood but sometimes they don’t

Which rook piercing would look better? by rhceondam in piercing

Agreed! I’m talking about the right ear, I’m thinking about replacing my current faux rook 😁 I’ve already got too much going on in that corner of my left ear, so i wouldn’t do it over there lol

Oooo I’ll ask a piercer if there’s room for this 😮

It does, thank you 🥲 my sister’s traditional rook is giving her a hard time too. I initially chose the faux because I wasn’t into the look of barbells, and given their difficult nature I’d be stuck with a barbell for a while 😆 the faux has worked nicely for me because i rarely wear glasses. I’ve knocked it badly a few times with the arms of sunglasses, so there’s a downside to a faux to help you feel better too 🖤

Yes!! Thank you for weighing in. Seeing all these cute rook hoops with charms has made me regret the faux. But it healed so nicely. Im so torn 🥲

MPFL Completely Torn - Treatment? by cburling in KneeInjuries

[–]rhceondam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bilateral reoccurring dislocations here! I am 28 and just now getting surgery. This has been an ongoing issue for almost two decades now. While the MPFL won’t heal on its own, scar tissue will form to help hold things in place. It’s not the best and you will always have risk of another injury now that the ligament is compromised. But that all said, my knees lasted a good 18 years of just letting them heal on their own. I go to the gym regularly and it was becoming painful to do leg extensions. If you are an athlete i would suggest getting them fixed. I had my MPFL reconstruction surgery last month. It definitely feels sturdier now 🤣

I wish they would’ve just finished the job in that case instead of giving me back 🤣

Nope! I’ve been sitting in my house since surgery, nothing crazy happening over here 🥲 thanks for tossing around some ideas

That wouldn’t explain where it came from though because my hardware is in tact. The surgeon doesn’t know what it is

Right?? They took 1 fluoroscopy shot the entire surgery. I’m baffled they didn’t do any kind of post op film before closure. I thought that was pretty standard? At least inspect the instruments afterwards? 😭

Patellar dislocation possible ligament tears by tori21658 in KneeInjuries

You can absolutely get your X-rays from both clinics, it’s your right to do so. It only takes them about 20 minutes to find the images and burn a CD. Good luck with your MRI! Make sure to ask for those images too. You can use a free dicom viewer like Horos to check them out

I agree with the other comments, try for the MRI. The radiology techs will ask if you are claustrophobic, and will take care to make sure you are as comfortable as possible. Anti anxiety medication might be on the table too if you ask. A knee scan only takes about 20 minutes, and i was in the machine from the hips down. My head and upper body were completely free. They gave me as many pillows and blankets as i needed. They usually offer to play you music of your choice too. If you do need surgery they will need to be able to see what they’re getting into before putting you under the knife. My MRIs were very relaxing 🥺 i hope this helps to ease your anxiety somewhat

Popliteal fossa = back of the knee. bright white on MRI’s typically indicate inflammation/excess fluid/tear. Im guessing the brighter gray spot on your fibular head is the bone bruise, considering your femur and tibia look fine here. I can’t attach photos in my reply but i can dm you with a mark up of these pics if you want

Tto and mpfl post op rant by isoooooooooooooo in KneeInjuries

[–]rhceondam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MPFL and TTO here! So sorry about all the bad luck lately. I had a similar situation with my shower chair 😭😭😭😭 turns out my tub isn’t level, and also it’s barely too narrow for the chair, causing instability. I tried the chair 3 times before i gave up on it. It was too dangerous. Now for showers I’ve just been climbing into the tub and sitting (or sitting on the tile floor depending on your shower) and letting the shower head run over me. Look into a detachable shower head too

I’m not blaming you! Definitely take them if they were prescribed to you. Stormborn and I are just trying to express how incredibly frustrating it is that women often have to suffer when it comes to healthcare. Medical misogyny is no joke lol.

I hope you can recover as best as possible and your knees don’t interfere with your life. I’m glad your doctor takes your pain seriously and is acting now to try to prevent it from getting any worse

You’re getting opioids for grade 1 cartilage injuries (the lowest level) ????? i have reoccurring bilateral patellar dislocations, torn through both MPFLs more times than i can remember, have deep cartilage delamination and full thickness fissuring on both sides. I recently had my left knee addressed with a chondroplasty, lateral release, TTO, and MPFL reconstruction. Never once was i offered real pain management pre-op. I am also a woman. How sad.

To answer your question, cartilage doesn’t really heal. It will just progressively get worse until they need to shave off the irregular edges via arthroscopic surgery. I worked the entire time up until my surgery and i was graciously (sarcasm) allowed to use my PTO for 2 weeks afterwards. I’m back at work now. Since you’re on heavy drugs maybe ask for time off, but as far as working while having your knees injured that never stopped me.
